If I had any idea what that meant, I'd be upset.

Salient means conspicuous. Thought I'd clear that up.

Re: whats DSOTM all about?

It IS Supertramp. If you don't believe me...

Dark Side of the Moon LP production note: In a recent interview, Gregg Schnitzer of MFSL revealed, "Did you know that the Dark Side of the Moon master was ruined? Somebody put it on a recorder instead of a playback-only mastering deck, and a little piece of Supertramp got dubbed onto the outro of Breathe. Big secret, that. Stan had left the company so a redo wasn't gonna happen. Makes me seriously wonder where MFSL got the source for the Dark Side of the Moon CD. Hmmm. It would have had to have been a second generation safety or the digital master I made for the cassette run."

He means the outro of Eclipse, not Breathe. This would explain why the "Mysterious Tiny Ending Music" appears on all remastered versions of the CD, but not the original black-label Harvest CDs.

Re: whats DSOTM all about?

Whoa. I just now read this thread, and I really think the way some individuals behaved was utterly unnecessary. It is all well and good when people post redirects to existing threads, or recommend resources to look for, but there really is no need to be rude. Otherwise we give the appearance of a very insular and elitist community.

Re: whats DSOTM all about?

I must a agree with FloydWright, being a newbie myself. I believe it was someone great who said "Can't we all just get along?"
Plus, the whole theme of the album, in my opinion is the things that drive you to insanity (which was what Roger was very much interested in [careful with that axe, Eugene]) Things like money, not enough time, death and the fear of it, etc

Now, pardon me, but I am at a loss, having re-read the entire thread from SeeShawnPlay's first to Piper@Gates' last, and can find nowhere that anyone was obviously rude.

Ahem...and if something DID get out of hand, bitter experience has taught me, at least, that it's best dealt with by the members themselves and not the Moderators - if they're actually in attendance - otherwise it would resemble a police state.

FBKness' admirable advice to newbies was very relevant considering that SeeShawnPlay posted not one or two, but a whole slew of new and mostly duplicate posts within the space of an half-hour. So if objecting to such behaviour, for the benefit of the whole community, is insular and elitist, then so be it.

And anyway, if your comments were directed toward me, as I said to SeeShawnPlay, I did say PLEASE.

it is not WHAT you say, it is HOW you say it. After, words only contribute to 7% of a conversation. (wow.... maybe school wasnt a waste of time... maybe i really DID need the edookasion...)

Re: whats DSOTM all about?

I'm too afraid to even post because of people like thorin... he scares me
also, I think BoaB does these forums a huge favor by taking his 5 minutes to tell every newbie posting to use the search mechanism. Whether he sounds mean or not, it's not like he's being paid to do this or anything. Keep in mind it's his own dedication to keeping these forums clean to new topics and questions.

Maybe it would help to have a "General Pink Floyd Questions" forum? Something reserved for newbies or oldbies who like to help out?

Re: whats DSOTM all about?

Vicious Chicken...

I had a similar thought myself--some kind of new Floyd fan's question station. I'm not sure how practical that would be, but it might be nice, that is, if anyone would be interested and it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Hm...as for "Just Babbling", I always thought it was the off-topic forum...?
