I'd chose Radiohead's Pyramid Song.

"all my lovers were there with me
all my past and futures
and we all went to heaven in a little row boat

there was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt"

This would be pretty cool to have played at your funeral:

Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.

Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is dead!

The above song would be amusing, yet scary.

I would like people to reflect on the good times, not to be so sad...

As far as traditional hymns go, I like the Battle Hymn of the Republic. I liked the tune from an early age and it's one of the first things I really learned how to play on my keyboard. It's also kind of triumphant and not the kind of depressing stuff you hear at a lot of funerals. That would be a good "exit song"--leaving people on that note.

But for the "quieter" part of the service, I'd play "Breakthrough". It admits to bumps in the road, so to speak--but is softly upbeat, and speaks of dealing successfully with those things and being at peace.

And the ending line:

"I feel untied, beatified, and loved forevermore..."

Oooooh, wouldn't that just be perfect? I think it would be a pretty, very peaceful image for people to think about.

Maybe Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead. Quite beautiful, really.

First I would ask that no flowers be sent to my funeral - why waste the money, eh? Send the cash to charity instead.

Then I would like to have the following tunes during the memorial service - most of them are from David's shows last January:

"Fat Old Sun"
"Smile"
and
"At the Dimming of the Day" (either David's or Linda Thompson's version would be lovely - I heard it at work before I left Florida and was enchanted...)

Then I'd like to close the whole thing out with "Let's Get Metaphysical" and "Breakthrough" (for the same reasons that FloydWright mentioned - lovely song).

Cheers!

well i really shouldn't think about this at my age (15) but i have thought about this a lot of time.. i dont know it seems fascinating.. I would definetly choose pink floyd at this moment.. with first Echoes, and then Comfortably numb (too beautiful, everybody crying... i hope) and then.. after that.. They need a big party to celebrate.. so i would like to have Steppen wolf with magic carpet ride.. and then a nice party with a cool band or something... well.. that should be it..

Jesse
