You should check out some of the new UK bands they're much better than all the toss that we get imported from the States - Nickleback? Linkin Park? Do me a favour! (no offence like).

Who gives a damn if the airways are being polluted with meaningless pop and modern rock music? There is other music out there!

King Crimson released a new CD, "The Power to Believe". Tony levin has a new double live album "Double Expresso" in addition to last year's release of "Pieces of the Sun". Peter Gabriel released "Up" last year. Robert plant and John Paul Jones both have new CDs. Trey Gunn, a warr guitarist, released an album recently. There's also Porcupine Tree's latest album for fans of new prog.

What i'm trying to say is that nobody is being deprived of music. So stop bitching about what everyone else likes and start concentrating on what you like.

*sigh* do we have to go through this again?
Great music is still being made, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Dream Theater, Spocks Beard, Transatlantic are some examples, just a few. You might not hear it on the radio as much, but it is certainly still being made, some I say *without hesistation* better than the classics.

Music ended Dec. 8th 1980. Anyone that says otherwise probably has no taste. Or I could be wrong......

John Lennon was not the embodiment of Music by any means.

I could go on about how you're completely and insultingly wrong on that, but I probably wouldn't convince you. I'll just say, if rock and roll is gonna save the world (which it is) he's the closest we ever got, and after him, it's been all downhill, with people bringing the evils of religeon and politics into music. You can just take my word for it, or not, but it's the f***in' truth.

If rock and roll is going to save the world, but music died when he did.... I'm lost. How is that supposed to work out?

That is the most narrow minded thing I have ever heard and I take it as a personal insult. Tell me Penguin have you ever heard of Ben Harper, John Butler, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Silverchair, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Powderfinger just to name a few among other bbands mentioned on this thread. Please justify your posts if you'e going to say things like that and do not tell me I have no taste
thank you

cheers

By the way, wasn't Johnny Lennon one of the first guys who brought politics and religion into music?

'You say you'll change the constitution....'

'Imagine no religion; it's easy if you try. No hell below us; above us, only sky.'

'Keep you doped with religion, sex and tv.'

'No, I don't want to be a soldier, mama, I don't want to die.'

'God is a concept by which we measure our pain.'

'All we are saying is give peace a chance.'

Are these not political or religious statements?

Oh, I forgot one.

I don't believe in Bible,
I don't believe in tarot,
I don't believe in Hitler,
I don't believe in Jesus,
I don't believe in Kennedy,
I don't believe in Buddha,
I don't believe in mantra,
I don't believe in Gita,
I don't believe in yoga,
I don't believe in kings...
