No problem-- I know nothing about website design or file size limitations or practicalities or whatnot, I just make pretty pictures.
We definately make a good team then.

I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for pretty much all this stuff, and a bit of Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator depending on what I'm doing. For the fading I made a layer mask with a gradient effect around the logo, with a deviance of 20 pixels or so. Don't worry, that hardly made sense to me either.
I'm relieved, I felt kinda dumb there for a while.

Let's do something, shall we? I'll only concentrate on website technicalities and practicalities as you put it, and you do your graphics stuff.

Seriously, thanks for the explanation, although I don't see myself doing that for the next several months or so.

I was used to the Dark Side theme, but since it seems to have disappeared, I've quite happily switched to Meddle instead! Nice colours.

Re: New Dark Side of the Moon theme and new logo on the "Old Board" themes

Unfortunately, the new version of the forum software we use require new graphics (buttons, etc), which the old Dark Side theme does not have, so parts of it appear broken, which is why I temporarily disabled it. Eventually, I'll create them myself or just adapt a "Dark Side-looking" theme altogether to APFFN, but right now there are plenty more things to be handled before I get to it.

By the way, as credit should be given when credit is due, the Meddle theme was originally styled and designed by our very own GeraldTheMouse as stated here (jeez! my English was so bad back then... LOL).

Re: New Dark Side of the Moon theme and new logo on the "Old Board" themes

1) I'd be happy to make some buttons etc. for the Dark Side theme if you'll show me what you have and what you need.

2) I've actually been itching to redo the logo for the Meddle theme, because I'm about 40 years older and (supposedly) more experienced at this sort of thing. Whaddaya think, Paulo?

3) Someone mentioned doing a Piper theme about four years ago (I have been on this website for far too long). If there's any sort of support for this idea, I'd love to give it a go.

I have to ask before it disappears. What is the sticker-looking thing on the butt of the axe blade?

Really don't know. I surreptitiously stole that picture from pinkfloyd.com several years ago (it accompanied some page they had about Careful With That Axe, Eugene). I doubt it's still there, though I haven't looked.
