| Re: Fletcher memorial home: what's this song about? Well, Fletcher is his (of Rog) father surname or whatever, the 'tyrants and kings' are those who killed him and keep killing ppl with their politics. Of course Reagan, Haig, Thatcher, Begin and dirty Co were not involved in 2nd WW, Rog should have said "pls welcome Hitler and Mussolini, Churchill and Roosvelt, mr Stalin and friends etc..." but here they just symbolize what's wrong in every society, no matter what period. Now we could sing the same song using new names... Bush, Powell, Putin, Blair, Hussein, Sharon etc... And the Fletcher memorial IMO is something like a monument for the unknown soldier, the victim that symbolize all the victims of power games up there.

| Re: Fletcher memorial home: what's this song about? Monument for the unknown soldier.... Hmmm, I disagree I feel it is more of a museum where all the "historical specimen" of the world's greatest and most callous butchers. Ofcourse dedicating the museum in the name of someone who has fallen due to their policies... lends a nice touch to the whole affair!!

| Re: Fletcher memorial home: what's this song about? In the UK a home (AKA Nursing Home) is where we stick our old crusties when we can't be arsed to look after them ourselves anymore, maybe that's what Rog meant - it's a retirement home for the "tyrants and kings". Just my two pennoth. |

| Re: Fletcher memorial home: what's this song about? Yeah. To put it into crude terms, the Fletcher Memorial Home is where tyrants go to die. Also remember that Mr. Waters' father was Eric FLETCHER Waters. So perhaps he's making a statement there...perhaps he wants to inflict upon these tyrants the permanent memory of the damage they caused to innocents?

| Re: Fletcher memorial home: what's this song about? Interesting fellas. I also wonder what this line meant. They can appear to themselves everyday on closed circuit Tv. To make sure they're still real It's the only connection they feel. |

the way i interpret this line is they spend their time in the reitrement home watching themselves on TV, which feeds their egoes which is all they have left. 'its the only connection they feel' i think is saying that theyve lost any connection with the rest of society and all they can connect with is their own image and ego. i hope this makes sense, it makes sense to me but im not good at putting my understanding of it into words. great song, by the way

Well, I feel the same way. I mean they need some thing to keep feeding their egos because it is the only thing which still belongs to them (and the only thing that they are in relative control of). Their egos are the only things keeping them alive. So whatever... Yeah, I agree... great song!
