It's beautiful and has bell-like tone, but it's hard to play on the upper register of the fretboard cause the action is too high---many years of string tension has warped the neck a tad, and it has no trussrod. Just thot you'd like to know.

You can get a neck set to get rid of that high action. But it would require taking the neck off the body and re-gluing it. And it cost quite a bit, too - anywhere from $500 to $1,000.

But I wouldn't trust anyone with taking the neck off any guitar, espcially such a nice one as yours.

I apologise, Geraldo. Neither you nor otherguy would ever lower your standards that much. I'm ashamed of myself.

Shane: I had a luthier look at it some years ago that said the same thing---he recommended that I not mess with it, that there was a chance it could be screwed up. Since then I've strung it with light-gauge strings and tuned it down a full step to
D G C F A D. Then I got that Yamaha for serious acoustic work. (did I say serious? nothing I do is serious)

I'm pretty new to the guitar playing business (heh, business). I have a crappy Ibanez Gio GSA60 guitar. For beginners of course. Coming Back To Life is a favorite for me to play, I like playing Still Got The Blues on guitar as well, simple and easy yet emotional... ahhh. Talking about emotional, to get in such a state..

Cool.

And bash away on that Yamaha - it won't break for a while. (Unless my Yahama is just a fluke.)

No fluke---those Yams are sturdy. Mucho bang-for-the-buck.

Re: Since I am new, who here plays guitar?

I've tried a Yamaha classical, which I didn't like much. To me my Spanish flamenco (?) guitar sounded better.

Re: Since I am new, who here plays guitar?

You have a real Spanish Flemenco guitar, Cluster? Wow! No wonder you didn't like the Yam classic.
I've always liked Flemenco guitar. I saw Carlos Montoya once in concert, and it took a couple days to get my chin pried (or "prised" as our British cousins would say) off my chest. Just awesome.

Stratman,

What kind of SG did you recently get?

I got one of those faded brown SGs and its by far the best guitar I have ever gotten for the money.

Re: Since I am new, who here plays guitar?

I've got a 1968 gibson acoustic. It's called a g50. I learned to play on it. It's beautiful. Also a strat. American, of course. Looks just like the one in Stratmans old avatar.

Sarah: you make my vintage guitar heart pound!
Anyway, that's awesome. I just wish I could nab a vintage something one day.

Wing'd Icarus: I agree. My Strat is a lovely sunburst color. I could stare at it for hours.
