Gigolo Aunt opinions

Is it just me or is Gigolo Aunt one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded? In my opinion it is the best single song ever written by any member of Floyd. Every time I listen to it i get this feeling of satisfaction. And one question: does he say "Driving on down to the beach to see the blue and the gray" or does he say "Jiving on down to see..."?

"Driving on down to the beach to see the blue and the grey"

It's not just you.

Gigolo Aunt - don't ask me what it means - IS one of Syd's more approachable or accessible and complete songs. Can't say much to "the best single song ever written by any member of Floyd" though.

Under Recording technique the Pink Floyd Encyclopedia has this:

Recorded with musicians [D. Gilmour, J. Shirley, W. Wilson] playing along with Syd Barrett as he played this song in the studio.

"Will you please keep on the track, 'cause I almost want you back."

He must have been talking about that very uncomfortable kind of 'rosy' where everything is so beautiful and fragile that it could shatter into complete horror any minute.

I wouldn't think that that kind of situation would be enjoyable.

Not that I would claim to understand Syd. I relate to the feelings he communicates. I don't think he is anything but the guy who played those songs that are out there with his name on them. I've learned to ignore myths.

I agree with the statement that "it is the best single song ever written by any member of Floyd" and in my opinion is a triumph for any member of Pink Floyd. And I'm not sure but i think it's jiving.

Yeah it's a pretty damn cool song, but I'm partial to "Waving My Arms In The Air" myself.
