DG's solos sound like they're singing the lyrics, echoing the feel of the song and you could (I can!) relate the solo to the song's theme so deeply!
Just came to my mind the solos from "Sheep", where you don't know when the vocals ends and the guitar begins... remember? Not the best example of what you said, I understood it; I just remembered it.

Yeah, DG uses mostly bends in his songs. Once I showed "Shine on..." to my guitar teacher and he said "Wow! This guy finds the notes in his fingers!"

I always thought it was a synth that took over from Rog's voice.
Could be wrong though.

This is the first time Ive read this thread. Actually learned a few new things. Much more refreshing than the standard "Gilmour is good 'cause he makes me wet".
