Try Dennis Wilson. Poor guy.

And that Natalie Wood joke cracked me up, Stratman.

That's right. I forgot about Dennis. It's funny, he was the only Wilson boy not terrified of water. I guess he should have listened to Brian.

Back to the subject again...?

I was sent this link today, and I must say, it fits the topic here, well...rather topically.

Cheers!

Re: Dave's kids

That was a pretty good read. I had never read anything of Polly Sampson's before, and now I see that she is a good writer.

She is a very good writer. I'll have to look for her books.

Polly's books

I have the two that were out before I went to London - "Out of the Picture" (her novel) and "Lying In Bed" (her collection of short stories). They're both quite good, as much as I begrudgingly have to admit (LOL).

"Lying In Bed" is probably the most uneven of the two books, most notable, however for the fact that it contains the story "Lucky", which is purportedly about her relationship with David. Most folks who have read this book cite "Lucky" as being the best piece in it. I'm inclined to agree.

I have to say, I initially didn't want to like her (the main reason at the time being her contributions to TDB's lyrics, really, since I feared the potential emergence of a "Yoko" so soon into their relationship. I'm over that, now.). But after reading her work and having very briefly run into her at the shows in January, I am quite fond of her and the effect she's had on David's life. (I guess I'm just a sentimental old softie...)

I was able to get my friend Phil to get her to autograph "Lying In Bed" for me before the Jan 18th performance. I was ensconced in a box seat and unable to do it myself, but Phil pointed me out to her and she smiled at me. Actually, she seemed rather surprised to be approached and asked for her autograph at David's show. I find that surprising, that no-one seems to acknowledge her.

But hey, how bad could she be? I mean, she even laughed when she saw my t-shirt (at the shows on the 16th and 17th)! LOL

You can read another piece by her on my site. Just go to the Collectibles/Memorabilia section, click on books/comics and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click on her name where it's highlighted for her review of Douglas Coupland's book. There are also reviews of her work, as well.

Or, you can just click here:

Cheers!

Re: Dave's kids

Well, I guess that story explains the song "A Great Day For Freedom"; where the title came from, why "On the day the wall came down" is signifigant, and that Charlie is named after "Checkpoint Charlie". Also, I can see where Polly is the "I" and Charlie the "you" in the lyrics. Verrrry Interesting.

Re: Dave's kids

It does make it all the more lovely and poetic, I think...though I'm positive that there are those who will heartily disagree.

Oh, well.

Cheers,

Re: Dave's kids

Thanx Geedub. I'll take a look when I have more time.

I do feel guilty for not liking A Great Day For Freedom now...
