Re: P.C. Hitchhiking

I gave it about 5 listens after I bought it and concluded that there was ONE good song on it, and that was "Every Stanger's Eyes."

Re: P.C. Hitchhiking

I actually like Pros and Cons. I prefer it to Final Cut.

Waters stinging lyrics are quite awesome...some of his best.

"We set out in the spring,
With a trunk full of books about everything,
About solar devices,
And how nice natural childbirth is"

Sarcasm dripping from his jowels...bloody brilliant.

Eric Clapton...well...he isn't called a legend for nothing, and some of his work here is amazing.

I guess BoaB and I are presiding members of the P&C club.

I didn't get the music [at first], yoko ono

Hey guys, track 10, the pros and cons of hitchhiking, what is meant by the references to Yoko Ono.

by the way, my favorite songs were "the pros and cons", "sexual revolution", "go fishing", "every strangers' eyes"

And I must say when I first listened to the album, running shoes shocked me by presenting how volatile the album is. That's the beauty of it, I suppose.

Thank goodness for personal preference, eh Driven?

As stated before, I think very highly of Pros and Cons, perhaps only because I DID see it Live. TFC isn't a patch on it, IMHO, with the sole exception of Not Now John, but ***k all that, we've got to get on with these.

Re: P.C. Hitchhiking

I think I've listened to Pros & Cons 3 times total. It just doesn't do anything for me. I always felt Rog took a bunch of leftover non-sequitars and mishmash scraps of his other ideas and threw them in a pile, figuring that "a dream" would explain its disjointed nature.
OK, he got Clapton. But he wouldn't let him play. Here is a quote from Rog:
(speaking of Eric) "....He was very professional. He would ask me all the time 'what do you want? It's your record.' The only thing I had to tell him was 'play a bit less' because musicians are always tempted to fill every empty space they hear."

I would add, "and some writers are compelled to fill every available space with babble."

Best Waters' solo albums:
TFC---good story, OK music. At least Dave is there.
Radio KAOS--silly story, annoying moderator, but a couple of good tunes.
ATD----I like it, but his anti-American bias irritates me.
Pros & Cons----save your money. borrow a friend's copy and listen to it once...then do your friend a favor and throw it away.

Re: P.C. Hitchhiking

Ya know, a lot of time, energy and space go into picking apart the various floyd albums. Yeah, I do have my fave's , who doesn't. But let's face the facts folks..... The worst Floyd album is far better than most other efforts for the last 30+ years. Let's take a poll...please choose one on each line..

1) Ummagumma...........Michael Jacksons Thriller
2) TFC..........................Anything by Abba
3) DSOTM.....................Barry Mannilows Greatest Hits
4) P&C of Hitchhiking....Barry Whites Greatest
5) Animals....................Motorhead (OK, Lemmy is COOL)
6) The Wall..................Frampton Comes Alive (C'mon, I know you have a copy)

Uuh Hu.... I thought so......
Quit yer nit picking.

Has anyone else noticed the resemblance between Alfred E. Newman and Dave Letterman?

I never heard Barry White's Greatest, but I am willing to bet its better than P&C. Thriller is ten times the album Umma is.

I'm sure someone here agrees with me.
