Re: A Final Cut Movie!!!!!!!!!!

No, Wildcard, you're still missing it; you're still winding things up too tightly.

"Pink" for want of a better name at the moment, is the "monkey" back home, wherever back home is, who is obsessed, ATD-like with the TV and seems to get whatever external stimulus only from that. Pink's big bro' is the fine warrior off to fight the "good fight".

This older brother, experiencing a period of an excess of zeal, happens upon his next intended victim, the zombie-like radio-obsessed lad, calling to mind the warrior's brother back home, likewise media obsessed. This is where the warrior has his moment of humane sympathy and decides just before administering the coup de gras to turn aside...only to be blasted into the hereafter by the intended victim's mother. Her motive is more than clear and an understandable yet tragic mistake.

Hope it's clearer now.

Re: A Final Cut Movie!!!!!!!!!!

I think it boils down to this. If it is going to be "The Final Cut", you're pretty much going to have to go with the storyline Roger used. (and film clips to support it). If you use a storyline like the comatose-kid-and-older-brother,(which is intrigueing, BTW) it will simply be a different story, and TFC music won't fit it.

I see

I understand what your saying now and it's a lot more feasible now. We are keeping with Roger's original intents and it will still fit with TFC but with some new twists to it. Roger's original ideas fueled those four videos but there were still eight other tracks to contend with and tie in. THAT's what I'm going to do and while I'm at it re-make the other four as well because I don't think my footage will merge well with Roger's. They tried to merge CG with live action in Star Wars Episode I and look how that came out, so I'm going to avoid merging hollywood shots with those of an amateur (myself). By the way, does anyone know where I could download those four videos so I can see them?

Re: A Final Cut Movie!!!!!!!!!!

Could we please devise some names for these people?! This is getting very tiresome. Any ideas?

Ahem, I still believe a movie about the themes presented in TFC is your best bet. No reason you can't use TFC as a soundtrack, rather than the vehicle for the plot. Frankly, I like the images conjured in my head about TFC, and no movie of yours is going to disturb them.

It would be a nice homage to KRAPOS, though. TFC could become a Billy and Jim movie!

Re: A Final Cut Movie!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though guys. Is there anything we can come up with that would have some connection to The Wall. I'm not asking that the main character's name be Pink or anything but it wouldn't hurt to have someone related to The Wall. Perhaps the comatose child's name could be unknown and he could just be referred to as the little bugger or more simply bugger. I'm not quite sure about the rest. Any king of mythical references we can use (I'd like to stray from the bible as much as possible). Possibly something norse, greek, roman....?

Any ideas?

Well Loki is a good, mischievous Norse god, and Eris is his Greek equivalent. "Bugger" is not a nice moniker for anyone.

But anyway, dude/dudette, this is meant to be YOUR idea of a film around Pink Floyd [sic] music from TFC.

The general consensus here, if I may so boldly say, is one of discouragement at worst, and indifference at best. I think if you're going to create something of this ilk, you should REALLY be doing it on your own...or with Roger's collaboration, if you can get it. It will also prevent contributors here feeling any ill-will if any of their ideas happen to be summarily dismissed or rejected outright...as has happened elsewhere on other subjects, eh Sydney?

Anyway, good luck.

i understand

I see what you're saying and I am going to do a lot of this on my own but I also believe in doing something right the first time and the best way to do something right is to get a lot of collaboration from the start. So far I've gotten a lot of that and I am very thankful for it. I think I now have a solid character and plot base to work from. Nothing here may end up in the final cut of the film (sorry unintentional). I have a few friends here I'm going to bounce ideas off of but I think so far I'm good to go. I've already been looking at places to shoot scenes. There's a local paintball range I think I may be able to film a few scenes in and my grandmother's attic is dark, gloomy and very bleak, but it does get swelteringly hot though. The next stage to all this will be to write a script of some form with some lines and an outline of scenes. Before I can do that I need some character names. Then after I've got a script to work from I'll send it off to Roger and in the meantime start working on the casting. Then I'll start shooting and over probably an entire summer I'll finish up shooting and editing and have a first draft for you all. I know I am going to make a trailer for you all at least and hopefully this webpage will post it up. (I don't know that's for later). Once i've let you guys scrutinize and rip to shreds (lol) my first attempt I'll go back and rework what I think needs work and put out the finished product.

SO BASICALLY:
The last real thing I need from you guys is a few possible character names for each character. Once I have that, I'll bombard my local Floydians with my proposal and see what they think and start on the script. With college starting up on the 19th of August it may take me a while but It'll get done (hopefully before Aug. 15)

Once I have my script I'd like at least a few of you to edit my script. Any volunteers? Please e-mail me [SpCeFrK@aol.com]

Any help you could provide now would be great and then I would be out of your hair (lol) for a while.

Thanks everyone.

Re: A Final Cut Movie!!!!!!!!!!

You are going to send a copy of the script to Rog?

That's the funniest thing I have heard yet on these forums.
