Okay, so his wasn't the best voice in the band, third after David and Rick in that order, but jeez Louise, his ATD stuff in June Live was not impressive.

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

water's best vocal work was in Shine On. Like you stated, bride, his vocals were great in Animals as well.

As far as Pros & cons and ATD goes, it sounds too much like he is trying to tell a story, instead of actually singing. Bad Roger.

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

Exactly!

Don't get me wrong, since seeing ATD Live I have grown to like a few of those songs, but when Roger was murmuring and muttering the "lyrics" I couldn't tell what the hell he was on about.

Now, if he'd had David SINGING his lyrics, it might have (What am I saying? It WOULD have...) been better.

Are you listening, George?

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

Well, all technical merits aside, the talk-singing does give me a bit of a vocal "cheat"...since I have a high voice and can't hit some of the low notes, I have a way to cheat when I can't hit the lowest parts...I just "talk" my way out of it!

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

FW, I want to hear some of your work. Do you have it in mp3 format on your website?

Also, staying on the topic, I think roger had an enormous ego to sing on most of those songs from The Wall and on Animals. One should know their own vocal limits.

Also, on the song "Radio Waves" from Radio KAOS, I noticed that it's not just a talk-singing style, it's been made to sound like one of those weird 80s voices. *does the roboto*

(okay, so that was the hump dance rather than the roboto. Sue me.)

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

I think Shine On is not for Rog's voice, quite frankly. For sure not his best.

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

I think we *need* a "roboto" smiley.

Can anyone design one? I mean, just think how much more we could express with the assistance of that design.

but I'm still quite fond of the littl' humper... LOL

"Domo Arigato..."

Cheers!

Cat, I'm by no means a professional. I'm talking about nothing more elevated than shower-singing. At this point, I am still terrified of being recorded.

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

Maybe a few hours a week with a voice trainer and you could soon be singing soprano!

The wings are back!

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

It's not that I'm a bad singer...I think I could do well. It's more that I get stage fright rather badly.

I see. Oh, and by the way, and did you coin the phrase "WrightSatellite"? I'd like to be a trainee, hehe.

Re: post-waters era singing and vocals

he's referring to billy corgan, the lead singer for the smashing pumpkins. Let's face it, the guy cannot sing worth a crap. the other one, well, i'm not sure.
