Re: Pulse DVD?

we posted about the dvds they sell at auction sites and small "rare - hard to find" music/video stores.
i bought one them.

first it has no label -
and it then it is in "PAL" colour format (exclusive for people living in Europe or some other areas as argentina, i think)

We who own video (dvd playes + tv) sets in NTSC format (USA, Japan, and most of South America) can not view it unless we own a very expensive multi zone tv (there are several multi zone dvd playes but the TV is the really expensive stuff).

Then it was terribly packaged (i am sorry for my misspelling as my mother tongue is spanish), so bad that the DVD was out of the helder and got some scratches!!! my brand-new-unable-to-watch-dvd.

Anyhow, if you want to play it in a computer it will (in a PC the colour mode is not relevant) but i guess you will want a bigger screen than your monitor.

So i recommend the no labeled (by no level i mean no company name) dvd if you are in europe only.

I bought the laserdisc on an auction at eBay, these days is the better one can get (they dont wear off like vhs).

See you soon people.

Excuse the long post. Just wanted to let you know - again - about the experience with the rare-hard-to-find-mysterious--pulse-dvd

Re: Pulse DVD?

oh ok...
the text on the auctions are:
THIS IS PINK FLOYD'S *PULSE* DVD BRAND NEW ORIGINAL IN THE BOX.THIS IS A REAL FACTORY PRESSED DVD,NOT A COPY OR DVD-R.FILMED AT LONDON EARLS COURT 20/10/94.IT HAS 22 SONGS in 5.1 dolby digital.TOTAL RUNING TIME:145 MIN.THIS DVD IS IN PAL VERSION.PAL is the European format so you will need a multisystem DVD player or a player that can support PAL DVDS if you are in Region 1(North America),or otherwise this DVD WILL WORK on your computer DVD-ROM player!PLease see my other auctions also for hard to find items. Thanks and good luck!!!

so they made me curious..
pal is fine for me)
but i don't want to end in the adresslist of a gangster..
the guy i saw has nearly 3000 points and sells weekly 20 to 30 of these dvds.
so i might better wait and watch on my huge tv in 5.1 sound than watching it on the small jail tv set..)

ME (frustrated)

Re: Pulse DVD?

I donīt think you will end up in a "gansters" address book.
I was just saying that is not only the dvd player which must read PAL colour system but the TV set aswell.
If you are living in Europe it is likely that your TV set and dvd player are both PAL.
If you live in the states it is NOT LIKELY that you you will be able to enjoy the dvd.
If you want to buy it anyway without the fuzz of an "auction site" then you can buy it where i got mine from:

http://www.ultramusicstore.com/index2.html

but i tell you, let them know that they need to be more careful with the packaging.

Now. This is the non labeled DVD. The official dvd has not been released yet.

I keep it just as a collectors item

WTF????

If Pulse DVD is ready how come we're still suffering from the poor quality of VHS?????

I have 2 VHS tapes of Pulse, both worn out of use (hours and hours of studying CN solo). Both sound bad and look even worse.

I want digital quality DAMN IT!!!!

FWIW, this is not entirely true. You can buy machines in USA which will play PAL on NTSC TV (and vice-versa) - you just set the TV type and it automatically converys if needed. Mine does this, as well as being region-free (a cheap Daewoo DVG-3000N). You do NOT need a special TV; just a DVD player that can do the conversions. Having said that, these machines do have problems playing NTSC Polymorphic (widescreen) DVDs on PAL TVs. It does work, but the image is stretched a little. This, of course, is irrelevant to the Floyd "bootleg" DVDs being discussed.

Re: Pulse DVD?

Hey that is alright!!!!
lucky me that my tv only reads ntsc (and its a new flat screen) and my dvd only reads ntsc regions 1 & 4.
Will have to wait for the official DVD myself.
Thank you for the enlightment.

Roberto.

Re: Pulse DVD?

I only hope they have the video versions of Welcome To The Machine (for DSOT) and Astronomy Domine (for PULSE), otherwise, it can never be good enough to be released on DVD when everyone has it on VHS.

Re: Pulse DVD?

I have a PULSE DVD for sale on Ebay. I imported 2 REAL DVDs from Europe from a friend. They are NTSC format, NOT PAL, and they play perfectly in my DVD player in my DVD player. The item number on ebay is: 3333157939
