Re: Pulse DVD?

My personal thoughts on ITF versus PULSE...it boils down to individual taste, for me. I am very, very sensitive to musical stylings, and when I do not like the style of what I'm hearing, or feel it's too far "off", I find it hard to listen. I don't like ITF on grounds of it being musically warped, to my ear. Others may certainly disagree...that's just my personal perception.

Re: Pulse DVD?

Yeah, God forbid Dave's vocals should be sung by someone who still has a voice. And the guitar parts should be played by people who give a damn enough to put some feeling into it.

PULSE is the warped version, not the other way around. Then again, as you said, it does boil down to individual tastes.

By the way, Cn on ITF is the ONLY enjoyable version I have heard. Well, second if you count the show I was at.

Re: Pulse DVD?

The effect to me, of ITF, is like someone taking a familiar song and putting it in a different key--another thing to which I have a high sensitivity. I can literally not recognise a song because of a pitch change, until someone starts singing, or I recognise a very, VERY obvious riff.

And even my pitch sensitivity is exactly what I said before--a matter of my individual perception of music. So I think we are agreeing to disagree!

Sorry...I'd rather watch Pink Floyd than some glorified COVER BAND. That is what they are you know...

Re: Pulse DVD?

Even if the real Floyd is uninspired, and two of its members contributed little on the last 2 albums?

Sorry, but it's true.

Re: Pulse DVD?

"uninspired" is questionable and it's irrelevant anyway.

"Two of its members contributed little on the last two albums" could be true for AMLOR but it's without any doubt false for TDB.

You have a strange concept of "true" mate.

I was about to flame you NNJ, but I came to my sences, so I'll simply comment the following:

a. Dave's voice today has more bass, which in my opinion way better than those high girly tones he used to have when he was younger.

b. As for his guitar playing, whether someone likes this version or that is individual taste, but you can't honestly say that he doesn't put any emotion to it. If you've seen the pulse video then you also have seen how concentrated he was while playing the guitar parts. You can say whatever you like about Dave, but unlike other artists, when he goes on stage he doesn't put on the "hey look at me" attitude, he just tries to play better and enjoy it while at it.

I respect him proffesionally more than I respect any artist.

Re: Pulse DVD?

M. Pratt 'Le HorEEbluh' prevents me from taking any enjoyment from PULSE. His singing, his ultra-slick Milli Vanilli bass... ugh, I just can't put up with that French-Canadian bastard anymore. The very mention of his name makes my skin crawl. The Orb... now there's a crappy band. If it turns out that Pratface was responsible for those god-awful LIMITTED EDDITOIN PINKKFLOD TRANCE REMIXS!!!!!!!!! I will honestly start making calls about this man.

Okay, I feel better now.

Re: Pulse DVD?

Well, actually in my opinion, I feel that SOME (not all) of the guitar solo's in the ITF video are played BETTER than when Gilmour plays them (of course there are 2 guitarists in the ITF video). Thats not to say the PULSE video is no good, I like it nearly as much as I enjoy the ITF video, but truley I get much more out of the ITF video.
