1) Jimmy Hendrix, NO DOUBT in my mind
2)Jimmy Paige, Just watch and listen
3)Eric Clapton, nobody plays like him, nobody has his style
4)Trey, so clean nobody is cleaner
5) David Gilmour, live not one person can make it scream like he does

I'd never try to pick just five. I'd constantly be changing my mind.

But Stevie Ray Vaughn and Mark Knopfler belong on the list, most def'. And I accuse anyone who disagrees with me of having earwax build-up.

I watched Steve Vai's DVD "Live at the Astoria -- London"

It's not necessarily music you would want to just "listen" to -- but Gawd A'mighty, the man is at a level all his own. He must be watched while performing to get the full impact; it's more like a magic act than a music concert. I just can't think of enough superlatives to describe his mastery of the 6-string.

His cover of Jimi's "Fire" and "Little Wing" were worth the price.

Yeah. He is very skilled, but the music, well, as you said...
