George Harrison?! hmmm... I still think Danny Gatton should be mentioned more, even tho' no-one but guitar players seem to know who he is.

Oooooh, maybe Chuck because of his influence on later guitarists (rather than his own ability), but none of those cheesy players that Brian May likes. (with 1 or 2 exceptions).

'Hey I just wrote this love song called "Something" for my wife Patty... I think I'll have someone else play the emotional guitar solo on it.'

Why do you hate owls so? It's not like they fly about in the dark or anything.

george harrison

I don't know where you get your information from but Harrison played the solo on "Something".
You might be thinking of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
But Harrison definately played the solo on "Something".
The only reason that Clapton played on the White Album at all was to break the tension.Whenever the Beatles had a guest musician they all got along. That is why Billy Preston is on Let It Be

Cool

I think that the understood "top 5" guitar players are, and I'm not sure of the order,:

Jimi Hendrix
Jimmy Page
Jeff Beck
Eric Clapton
Stevie Ray Vaughan

My current top five are:

David Gilmour
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Alex Lifeson
Jimmy Page
Tony Iommi

There are many other that I like such as Martin Barre, Robert Fripp, Brian May, Ritchie Blackmore, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Andy Summers, The Edge, Mick Jones, Mark Knophler, the list goes on. There are so many good 70s guitar players. Seventies music rules!
