As has been mentioned in other threads Porcupine Tree are (or were) heavily influenced by Floyd although they seem to have moved away from the Floyd "sound" on their last couple of albums. Well worth checking out as they are an excellent band on their own merits.

Hearing already obese people eating Big Macs and talking bollocks (for the most part) doesn't really appeal, truth be told. Going large, Mark

Supertramp is NOTHING like Pink Floyd except they're tired old rockers by now. CRISES WHAT CRISES is a better album than BREAKFAST IN AMERICA, but the latter is still quite good. "See the girls in California, hoping it's going to come true..."

As I remarked elsewhere Kula Shaker are indeed a Floyd influenced band, but no clones at all. Their influences are also indian-psychedelic-Beatles, Deep Purple and a bit of Led Zeppelin and Doors. They unfortunately split up but both their albums ("K" and "Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts") are highly recommended. The latter was recorded at Gilmour's Astoria Studios using Floyd's instruments and was produced by Bob Ezrin.

![]() Although I do like Supertramp, I do not think they are comparible with Pink Floyd, in my humble opinion. Actually, I cannot come up with any band/artist who comes even close to PF for that matter... Last edited by Banshee; 09-10-2002 at 02:15 AM. |
