I am a Greek student on restoration and preservation of antiquities and artifacts currently located in the island of Rhodes / Dodecanese. I am interested in producing a study regarding the restoration and preservation of old houses in the area of the ancient theatre of Lindos / Rhodes/Greece. I would like to know whether there is a way to ask for permission for performing such a study upon old Rhodian buildings in the ancient theatre area including David Gilmour's house. This study is related to the successful conclusion of my studies in the relative field mentioned previously in this text and it does not involve personal profit whatsoever. I am looking for some sort of an internet communication means to reach David Gimour to ask for permission to do my study. Is there any way to contact David Gilmour via the internet in order to receive his permission to inspect or take pictures etc. of his house in Lindos /Rhodes? Additionally, feel free to contact me via email at: kargellis@hotmail.com Thank you Last edited by kargellis; 08-05-2002 at 04:58 PM.

I always thought that was Mr. Wright who had property at Lindos (to judge from the book A Saucerful of Secrets)--so is it both he and Mr. Gilmour? As for contact information, I'll leave it to others to tell you what might be best.

Lindos house owners... I was also under the imporession that the owners of the house where more than one member of Pink Floyd. However, (not that it really matters I believe) people who live in Lindos named David Gimour as the owner of the house near the ancient theatre. Thanks anyway

Actually BOTH Rick Wright and David Gilmour have a house in Lindos.

I thought it was only Rick who had a house there. Guess I was wrong.

To answer the question though...I don't think the regular "fans" channels would be the best way of contacting him....he must get a lot of mail. Perhaps the real estate agent would be a better avenue.

That sounds good. You need to make it very clear you are NOT a crazed Floyd fan...you may even need to give them a reference who can vouch for your project (like your thesis advisor). That could be necessary. I may be paranoid...but I think that's something you should be prepared to provide.

You may also want to send a letter or attempt contact through his managing agency. I don't know who that is right now but it shouldn't be too hard to track down.

Gilmour's (or Wright's) managing agency or something like that would be ok, but I don't know how could I get a hold of such information. I just need some piece of information to contact somebody about the subject. It doesn't really have to be in person; it can be anybody who can forward the request. Thanks

Perhaps--but one thing to bear in mind: I wouldn't proceed with involving Mr. Gilmour's house in your project unless I had a piece of paper in hand signed by someone whose authority will allow you to proceed. In other words, if you get no response, you'll not want to involve his house. I think that would be wrong. Also, I am curious. How important is this particular house to you? If you could not get permission, what would you do?

| Crikey O'Reilly! All this namby-pamby tip-toeing about! David Gilmour is at the end of the day, only human and only one of many artists signed either to EMI Worldwide or Capitol Records (an EMI subsidiary) either as himself or Pink Floyd and one only has to contact them to enquire after his home in Greece, if any. EMI: By Mail: Corporate Communications Department, EMI Group plc, 4 Tenterden Street, Hanover Square, London, W1A 2AY. Tel: (+44) 20 7355 4848 Fax: (+44) 20 7495 1307 or email to Capitol Records with further enquiries: writeus@hollywoodandvine.com I am sure they receive all manner of letters and other enquiries about any number of their signed artistes and would either shit-can the letter or follow it up with their own responses and queries to ensure kargellis is not just a crazed fan or stalker. They'd likely just forward his letters or queries to David himself or his agents to handle. And if kargellis is what he claims to be and is seriously looking at houses in David's neighbourhood in Lindos, then of course he knows to get some sort of official letter of introduction or other form of confirmation to affirm this seriousness. Jeez, sometimes you guys and gals imbue the band members with much more than mere humanity. Hope the information above helps, kargellis. ![]() Floyd hard!
