After much deliberation, I voted for Animals. It's perfect from start to finish, a great album to work to. In fact, to me, Sheep is a highlight. I get an amazing feeling when I hear the singing birds (Grantchester Meadows?) and hear those opening organ notes.(I think it stirs up something magical out of my subconcious) Although I love The Wall, I don't relate to it. Thankfully I've never dealt with depression, so it is someone else's horror story and I'm just a detached observer. What made up my mind is the fact that I sometimes skip certain "songs" on The Wall, but would never miss a single note of Animals.

Oh, BTW, I like Echo & the B-men. "Lips Like Sugar" and "The Killing Moon" are great. I would appreciate one of you E&B fans recommending one of their albums...THX in advance.

That would be me then

Ocean Rain is an essential listen, it's probably the most accessible of their earlier albums and an acknowledged classic, it's a good place to start although if you're feeling flush the 4 cd box set Crystal Days ( a retrospective collection of tracks from their whole career, including rare and live stuff ) would be even better!
Great band, my favourite after Floyd. , their influence can be heard in loads of bands from The Stone Roses to Oasis.
Class!!
And they're Scousers!!!!

I believe a 'Scouser' is a native of Liverpool.

Shane G. is correct, if I may good Dr.

But do you know whence Geordies hail?

Or Brummies...or Mancunians?

Someone told me once that Geordies were from Scotland. It's probably wrong, though, right? I mean, somehow it was supposed to tie in to Star Trek, but I don't know how...

Gosh, I'm tired...

G'night!

You're right...your guess is wrong. Try again. Why-eye, man!

Lieutenant Geordi La Forge has very little to do with Geordies or Scotland.

Fulghum, Hicks, that's interesting you mention The Wall as relating to clinical depression. Have either of you tried Broken China (whose subject is, according to Mr. Wright, clinical depression)? I am curious as to how your reactions compare to The Wall.

Every Pink Floyd album sounds like Pink Floyd because IT IS Pink Floyd.

That's true but I know where unclezoso is coming from, The Wall is mostly quite a departure from the "traditional" Floyd sound we had become accustomed to, The Final Cut even more so!

Sorry, I don't think there is a "traditional" PF sound. Every album is quite different from each other.

I disagree. It can't sound like PF because it is PF. I can't look like me, because I am me.

And yes every album does sound different, but it is a huge departure from anything else done previously.

Both Animals and The Wall are truly amongst the very finest albums ever recorded - I listened to both albums earlier today, and I'd have to vote Animals the better album. Dogs stands without peer as my very favourite Pink Floyd song, and I think the whole album is nothing short of flawless from start-to-finish, whereas I consider a couple of songs on The Wall to be somewhat sub-par (Young Lust and Waiting For The Worms come to mind).
