Re: Animals or The Wall ?

Animals is better in my opinon because its music is really just played to a higher level than the wall. Althogh the wall has more memrable songs and made me obsessed with Floyd. Animals is just better for a unexplainable reason and if it wernt for The animals tour(in the flesh) The Wall probly wouldnt have been made into what it is today

The Wall. Animals is done well - I don't dislike it - but it is not the type of music that appeals to me as much. I do listen to it on a regular basis though.

Re: Animals or The Wall ?

Well....The Wall
I like following an epic musical AND lyrical narrative. Dark Side... had the musical narrative, so did WYWH. The only thing that hangs Animals together as a complete piece is Pigs On The Wing 1&2. Otherwise, it's just 3 long musically unrelated songs. (Although Dogs is my favorite song ever!)

So the wall is like a movie for your ears with a logical musical progression. It has to have the "boring" bits like any movie otherwise the whole movie is boring, going full out at one pace. The Wall is beautifully paced and a truly satisfying listen. If every song was a classic, it would be annoying almost as one tries to follow the lyrical narrative, trying to get the meaning while there are no dynamics at all!

An action movie has to have the quiet "I love You" bits in order for the action bits to have the most impact. The Wall needs the "Vera"s and "Don't Leave Me Now"s to make the action bits like Comfortably Numb and Hey You to stand out and have the desired impact.

So that is my essay on why I like The Wall Best!

I win.

Re: Animals or The Wall ?

The Wall is too long and has too many fillers. Though it does have a few good songs. However Animals is a different story. All the songs are great and fit like a puzzle. The guitars, bass, keys, drums, vocals and lyrics all blend well together and blow me away. I also enjoy the raw production which is evident in Animals. Along with Wish You Were Here, it's my favorite Pink Floyd album.
