Or something like that, very funny anyway.

Yeah, I heard that, too. Rumour is that Paul did the drums on a few tracks that Ringo just couldn't quite grasp, for some reason.

Also, here is my 2 cents worth on the Harrison debate: I agree with Fulghum--is a loaded question, as there are very few guitar players as famous as he (Harrison). To insinuate that he wasn't a good guitar player is an injustice.

As for Kreiger being better...it's just a matter of apples and oranges--which do you like better? Personally, I'd rather listen to Harrison over Kreiger anyday.

When Ringo (momentarily) left the band in 1968, Paul played drums on the couple of sessions where Ringo wasen't there.

Other than that, Ringo seemed to have gotten everything pretty smoothly.

I voted for Van Halen, I don't really like them, even though Eddie is a top class guitarist. I think Queen and U2 should be up there though, they're another 2 of my favourite bands.

I can't believe people are talking all this crap about the Beatles, they were one of the best, maybe even the best band ever. Sure, their early stuff was just stupid pop, but their later music is just genius. I have Revolver, Sgt Peppers, and Abbey Road and they are among my favourite albums, even though Sgt Pepper is overrated.

Just because none of them were spectacular at their instruments, doesn't mean it's not great music. Their lyrics were better than anything written before and most stuff written since. George Harrison was a good guitarist anyway.

And it's simply wrong to say the solo Beatles were just 'nothing but crap', George, Paul, John and Yoko all created great lyrics, few can better them in that department. And you may have heard of a thing called emotion. The Beatles, both together and solo, were brimming with it.

...and thats my two eurocent!

Right, Iano, and about Paul McCartney I think he is one of the finest songwriters ever. Yes, he did some crap song but he did also a lot of great stuff IMO.

Ooh yeah go 80s hair metal, now let me go practise my repetitive cheesy double tapping solos, so I can make myself look like a great player. (not attacking Eddie, just attacking his imitators)

I hate 80s hair bands, with that said, at least Vh was enjoyable. The Beatles put out a handful of good songs, though some are great, more often than not they were crap. I know I give Beatles fans a hard time here, and mostly its in jest. But really, do they deserve to be called the best? No, just the first. They were the first, but so many after them did it better. Aged babyboomers gotta realize that the Beatles were not, are not, timeless.

Nah, they aren't timeless. They're already out. I mean, there are just tons of bands that have been broken up for 30 years and can still outsell current music groups simply by releasing a compilation of their songs that hit #1 on the charts.

Right?

Because babyboomers have tons of money. The aged are with the ones with the greenbacks. I don't know, persons belonging to this site excluded, one person 30 or younger who bought that crap.

I hate to bicker, but I went to see a Beatles tribute band a couple years ago (I got free tickets, stop giggling), and at least half of the crowd was under 30.

I honestly don't understand what the big stink is with you guys and The Beatles. They wrote some beautiful songs....The Long and Winding Road, Yesterday, Something...just to name a few.
The Beatles deserve their fame....different era, and they were writing music that EVERYONE could relate to. Not everyone, can understand the depth of Pink Floyd.

The Beatles made it Simple.

John Lennon....shew, I wish you knew the inside story. If you did, you may view his behavior differently. I like his solo work.
All we are saying, is give peace a chance....boy what a horrible message to spread to the universe.

Right?
Wrong.

The Beatles did it. Pink Floyd - obviously did it. But who else? I doubt Led Zep, I doubt The Doors. Who else? Where are those TONS???
But this isn't the point at all. The point is: they revolutioned popular music, like it or not. I can agree they are overrated but if you say they are "crap", OK, this is your opinion, but maybe you better listen to Vanilla Ice.

Tons is probably exaggerated but many old groups can hit #1 somewhere (in their country at least) with a well promoted 'greatest hits', even Procol Harum and Led Zeppelin (didn't Remastered have a good success?). Battisti made it in Italy.

Vanilla Ice! Did he have something to do with music?? So why not to talk about Ricky Martin?
