Now, critics, may feel differently, but I really don't care what the reviews say. The Wall, is deeply entwined with mental, abusive, painful issues. Roger opened himself to anyone who'd listen. Why? So people could say his life was overrated? I don't think so. (sorry, I am having a bad day)
That is a great post if I may say so. No-one is saying The Wall is bad. No-one is spitting in Roger's face. But I think most of us would agree that it is not Pink Floyd's best work as it is always made out to be by the wider music community.

for me if there hadnt been a movie to go wtih it i dont think it would have stood out in my mind as an all time great album. Sure the songs are good, but the whole visual aspect jsut makes them better because you can play em over in your head as you listen to the songs.

Get over it. If I bared my sole in a poorly constructed AC/DC-esque 90 minute long rock song, you'd all laugh at me. As far as that goes, how many of you would buy an album released by NSYNC that had to do with clinical depression?

Being honest, genuine, and painful does not make up for bad music.

So you want the other side of it...I do listen to The Wall for the music. I agree that it is not Pink Floyd's best album. I just can't say it's overrated, for several reasons....I listed one before. I do understand the other points being made here.

So, Not Now John, if you did bare your soul, and you had great music to go with it, that appealed to a large audience, I don't think anyone would laugh at you...at all. Bad Music? Well, that's your opinion.

"Hey- I love that 'we don't need no education' song! My buddies and I get in the car and listen to it with the top down. I love to put it on when I've been out drinking and kinda shout along to it!"

Hateful. Absolutely hateful.

Cums up your bum,

Mark

I wouldn't describe The Wall as "overrated". I personally prefer The Final Cut--however, The Wall is both accessible AND complex, and I do think it deserves its awards. In my opinion, it's more that TFC is UNDER-rated.

"Yeah, but Dark Side of the Moon is too slow"

Too slow? Odd.

What part of "On the Run" did they miss?

They meant to say that it was boring, which is quite funny (and enraging), especially when compared to The Wall.

I think you could pick up a random hitchhiker while playing the Wall, and they go, wow, this is the one with the no education song. Pick up same hitchhiker while playing any other PF, and you get a blank stare.
