more of a suggestion

Just wondering if the number to letters needed in each word for the search engine could be made lower. I think it would help keep down multiple topic posts. I know i could have used is when i wanted to search for posts on pulse dvd but the search engine would not let me use dvd. And before all you guys who think your cool by flaming start this sint a complaint, just a suggestion. I thank piper for this great board where we can all come together and share thoughts and ideas.

On the subject of the search engine, what gives ... new around here and have noticed a few threads with members not happy about new threads on topics all ready covered. Am l meant to search on the various things l feel like posting or what?

I would suggest scanning the forum you would like to post to, just check the subject headers (for example, a question about The Final Cut would go under "Waters Domination"). In all honesty, as the search function has some problems with it, I think checking on your own is the best solution.

The duplicate threads do clutter the forum, so it's best to avoid them. But do not worry--you won't get in trouble if you DO duplicate...it's not that kind of issue.

Can't say I'm all that thrilled with 6/10 for the APFFN (All Pink Floyd Fan Network), but hey, you're entitled to your own opinion.

The Search thingy is oft suggested because, as you observed, this is a fan site, so most things that could possibly be discussed about Pink Floyd have likely already been discussed.

And if you've been here as long as some members, the 20th new post on Echoes (the song, the "best of" compilation, Live version, singing, LP over CD, etc.) or whatever is confusing at best, and damned annoying at worst.

Using Search from the main Forum page on, I think, a 4+ character word should give forum-wide results, if any. Search from within a specific Forum section, and the results, if any, will be only from that section.

Or...you can scan the sections as FloydWaters suggests, which is probably easier than fiddling with Search.

Oh, well, my SITE is FloydWaters, so I'm used to both.

If you use a * as an extra letter (ie dvd*) the search will be performed normally.
