Question Meaning behind Pros and Cons

Could someone please tell me the meaning behind "The Pros and Cons of Hitchiking" ? I heard somewhere it was about Roger's wife leaving him, is this true? I am writing a paper on Roger's work and inspirations, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Meaning behind Pros and Cons

That's a tough one, man. The entire album is about a dream, and I have a feeling that the dreams relate to some things in life.

Perhaps "Arabs with knives and westgerman skies" talks about insecurity, and maybe "the moment of clarity" is about loneliness. Maybe the entire album compares a dream about hitchhiking to not wanting to be alone.

Re: Meaning behind Pros and Cons

I think NNJ pretty much summed it up.

ilovethefloyd, there are at least two existing threads about P & C.
See: Roger Waters>P.C. Hitchhiking and
Waters Domination 1977-1983>The Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking

BTW, welcome. You might want to sign in on the recently-created introduction thread....Be sure and check out the wonderful "search" option.

Re: Meaning behind Pros and Cons

Good trivia Question, but I bet a lot of Floydoids on this site know the answer. Are you a Harley guy, Fulg?

Byron, speaking of Harleys, did you ever make it to Sturgess while you were in the States? People whom I know that have gone there say it's the greatest party going. I've thought of getting some leathers and stick-on facial hair/pony tail and checking it out.

Re: Meaning behind Pros and Cons

I have never driven a Harley outside of England.

Being more of a lone wolf, Sturgess doesn't sound my kind of party. I ride a Harley because I know no better bike for me, and to reduce stress.

Not a penny more, not a penny less.
