Do you like the version of Wish You Were Here performed by Roger in 1984, 1985 and 1987?

Does anybody else get chills while watching Perfect Sense on the ITF DVD???!!!
I just bought ITF...and I must admit I got a little teary during Perfect Sense. I'm not normally one to "get teary"...but I was quite overwhelmed by that song.

In other news...Doyle looks like he's trying to rid himself of a particularly chunky nard during his comfy numb solo.

The glimpse of Roger during the "setting up" thing made it easy to understand a lot of things Gilmour has said.

I find the documentary segment where he talks about the "radio contest" very humorous.

Rog was v. patronising to Jon in rehearsals, I mean Jon KNOWS how to play the keyboard.

He was basically telling him to play like Michael Kamen in order to re-create the feel of the original song. And there's nothing wrong with that, each keyboardist has a "feel," which may not be right for recreating the mood of a song like Southampton Dock.

But wasn't Roger's euphonium-player impression amusing?

And the AFL "sock incident?"

Unfortunately, I have never heard it.

You should. It has the extended piano and even saxophone! Roger experimented very much with the old songs, especially on the 1984 and 1985. Try downloading some stuff, although I'm not the one to tell you where can it be found.

I'll chime in with my 2 cents here...

I have the DVD and I love it, one of my fav music DVDs...I also have Gilmour's 'In Concert' and I enjoy In the Flesh much more - its not really fair to compare since Dave has already done the big stadium thing and was going for a more intimate show, but nonetheless comparisons are unavoidable...

Highlights for me were 'Dogs,' all of Roger's solo stuff from the 'Amused to Death' abum, 'Brain Damage' 'Time' and 'Each Small Candle'

Nuances/Comments/Shit I noticed:

1. On 'Dogs' Jon Carin sounds absolutely incredible...Just like Gilmour...I know this has been said before over and over, but I wonder why he didn't get more of the vocal parts, which brings me to my next point:

2. Doyle Bramhall is a brilliant guitarist, but a poor vocalist IMO...If I want melodrama, I'll rent 'Written in the Wind'...I loved how he played, but also I could do without the guitarist grimace he had going all night...

3. Snowy White was looking middle aged and showed exactly zero emotion or flair...Much the opposite of Bramhall...Just an observation...

4. Roger Waters' solo stuff sounded wonderful...He sounds just the same as he did in 1992, is that a good thing? I don't know...But he generally did a fine job on the vocals...I didn't like how he did 'Wish You Were Here' - he just doesn't have the range that Dave has - and I didn't like this version of 'Welcome to the Machine' - but besides that he was great and in many ways much more charismatic as a lead man than Gilmour was during the big stadium shows...

5. 'Each Small Candle.' Absolutely jaw-dropping. Packs an emotional wallop.

6. Kind of a random thought - Waters has much better material to work with than Gilmour - unless Gilmour resurrected 'Pink Floyd' and gained the ability to play ALL Floyd songs he can't play the ones only Waters is credited with writing, a pretty sizable number of songs...Just match up the back of 'In Concert' with the setlist from 'In the Flesh.' I mean, Dave pulled out random covers and 2 Barrett songs whereas Roger stuck to Floyd stuff plus solo stuff, and pulled off a much more impressive list of songs.

7. I like Roger's drummer much more than Dave's on 'In the Flesh'...

8. Thats about it. Love the DVD!

I have the CD, and i didn't know if DVD's already in sale here. I've seen the concert live, but never the less i'll buy the DVD 'cause we always get surprises. I didn't know if all the tour concerts were exactly alike. What i know is that Pulse concert recorded in E.C. wasn't exactly the same perfomed here in portugal.
