VH1's "greatest" lists

I am a big fan of Behind the Music, and the various countdowns on VH1. I recall seeing Pink Floyd on "the greatest album of all time"....however, many other lists didn't include PF...like greatest R&R song. Why is this? You think Pink Floyd preferred not to be on the list? Hmmm.....

"Pink Floyd" probably don't know anything about the list and if they did I reckon they wouldn't care whether they were on it or not.

Hmm...well I am sure they don't neither. Those "lists" are voted on my muscians, and many people in the music business. What I am questioning is, how it is that they do not appear on some of them. When they should get recognition.

Dunno mate, I've noticed that too, maybe it's because, as a band, they've been pretty faceless over the years (except to fans of course) and they've never been very media friendly.
It doesn't really matter, we know the truth and that's all that counts in the end.

I'll settle for that. I figured it may be the whole "underground aura" thing factoring in here. Just wanted to get another take on it.

You may be right there, as popular as they were/are they've never been what you could call a "mainstream" act. Thank God!

Were they Thorin? I just seem to recall watching these for hours...waiting for the top ten and thinking...oh they should be there, and then it being the Beatles, Stones, Doors, Led Z, etc etc and Pink Floyd not being there. I was just in mass confusion at that point. So, I guess it's more than one then.

Here in the UK we had a programme on Channel 4 called "The Top 10...." , in "The Top 10... Prog Rock Bands" Floyd came in at No.1 if that's any consolation.

I never got to see the top tens on VH1 before, because it always switched to Comedy Central at 3 pm. So, I always caught like 34-11. anyhow, some of the people they poll in the music industry I don't think really know what they're talking about, much less have any sort of credit (at least to me). i mean, how tasteful can Britney Spears or Lenny Kravitz be when they suck...themselves. Though, I don't know, maybe it's possible to be a bad artist but have good influences.

plus if you look at todays countdowns most people hate the songs on them its all what is "popular" at the time. just because no pf songs were on a countdown for the time period doesnt mean that they werent known. I know when i was doing a project for the 80s not even some of the most basic 80s songs were on the lists for the years they were popular.

i still say it's the musicians who took the poll's fault.
