Re: Books on the mighty Floyd

Have a look at the Barnes and Noble site- they'll have a whole bunch of stuff. I've got one by Cliff Jones- I forget the name- which is more a compendium of critical essays, interviews, dissertations, newspaper reports and reviews (not always complimentary) of Floyd, beginning to end.

Cheers,

Mark

Yes, do that. That is where I got my copy of Saucerful. They also have many other music, but not PF, related items. Such as a Rolling Stone Encyclopedia, etc.

Re: Books on the mighty Floyd

I'm going to buy a book called "Pink Floyd--Thru the Eyes of the Band, it's Fans, Friends and Foes" by Bruno MacDonald. I'm somewhat familiar with Bruno, and he probably knows more about PF than any man alive. (or dead)

Re: Books on the mighty Floyd

I think they have that book at my local library, and I checked it out. It was a collection of news cuttings and essays.
It's not a bad book, it's got some of the PF press essentials, such as the Melody Maker interview with Dave about the stuff they said about him during the Animals tour (the whole 'greasy-hair' incident, basically), and also an amusing Syd article, where one of the British musical mags got him to listen to new records and give his opinions. I think it was interesting to see what he says about the early David Bowie single "Love You 'Till Tuesday", me being a Bowie fan and all.

It's got a lot more than that, and I would recommend it.

Actually, that was the book that I was meaning.

Go figure.

In error,

Mark

Re: Books on the mighty Floyd

Here's an incomplete list of books that I've found on the Floyd over the years, some of which have already been mentioned (I've tried to be as accurate as I can with the titles...):

A Saucerful of Secrets: the Pink Floyd Story - Nicholas Schaffner

Bricks in the Wall - Karl Dallas

Pink Floyd Encyclopedia
and
Pink Floyd: the Press Reports - Vernon Fitch

Pink Floyd: Through the Eyes of the Band, it's Fans, Friends and Foes - Bruno MacDonald

Pink Floyd. - Miles (there are several versions of this one, but the most recent one only covers up to just around the time of TDB.)

Pink Floyd: In the Flesh - Glen Povey and Ian Russell

Another Brick in the Wall - Cliff Jones

Mind Over Matter: The Images of Pink Floyd - Storm Thorgerson

And there's also:

Crazy Diamond : Syd Barrett and the Dawn of Pink Floyd - Mike Watkinson and Pete Anderson

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know there are many, many others, but I can't think of them off the top of my head, just now...

Of course, there are also *my* books, but they haven't been published yet. LOL

Cheers!

Weeee!

Re: Books on the mighty Floyd

Foyles, Charing Cross Road (They have EVERYTHING apparently)

Perhaps Virgin Megastore (Oxford Street), Tower Records (Piccadilly Circus) or HMV (Oxford Street)

Any large Waterstones, or any new Borders

You should also be able to order any of the available books from all the above.
