Question about original cover design for Amused To Death

I was reading an interpretation of the song Amused To Death and i came across something i wasn't aware of before. It was the interpretation for the lyrics "We oohed and aahed, we drove our racing cars, we ate our last few jars of caviar" The interpretation was this. "Again the people explain what they did in their final days, enjoying the good life. Or perhaps another swipe at Steve O'Rourke and Nick Mason? Remember, Roger's original cover design was the 3 Floyds drowning in a martini glass(which would fit the 'good life' imagery)." Has anyone seen the original cover for Amused To Death? Also, are the 3 Floyds in the Martini glass Gilmour, Mason and Wright or is it referring to Rourke, Mason and Waters? I would think it referred to Gilmour, Mason and Wright, but i'm just curious. After all, it is my forum name.

Re: Question about original cover design for Amused To Death

This cover was proposed back when Amused to Death was going to be a sequel to Radio KAOS, when Nick, Dave and Rick (the three in the martini glass) were making millions with the New Pink Floyd and Roger was livid about it. After a few years went by, Roger changed the album's focus, removed most of the material referring to the New Pink Floyd situation, and only kept a few references. The monkey cover, which now had more to do with what the album was now about, was used and the martini cover never saw the light of day.

Re: Question about original cover design for Amused To Death

IMO, the line "We drove our racing cars" is a direct slap at Nick, Dave and Steve O'Rourke, who, of course, had taken a pair of C-Jag's to Mexico for the La Carrera Panamericana race.
Roger's passive-aggressive tactic of slamming people he doesn't like in his song lyrics is well established. So I don't know how that line could NOT have been about them.
