No, I fear your guitar teacher may be the idiot in that respect.

Your guitar must be a stuffed shirt. He probably couldn't improvise if his life counted on it. Thus he hears a freer style and thinks it's crazy. My guess, anyway.

Um, yeah, what she said.

Roger admits to smoking weed and drinking, but says he's only taken anything harder twice, and didn't enjoy it at all.

R. Crumb, in his docu. says practiacally the same thing, and he's way more twisted than anything Floyd ever did.

I dunno where your guitar teacher came up with that... Maybe the trippier or more psychedelic part in the album is the interlude in Echoes, but that's about it... The rest doesn't sound very trippy to me, just melodic.

Re: Floyd and drugs

In my F'ing opinion, people saying Floyd was just a bunch of druggies, and even putting the two things together, Floyd and drugs, are dismissing and taking credit away from Floyd. Its like saying the only way they created such music was drugs. In fact its the opposite, and thats a tribute to their greatness. They were NOT druggies, and yet they STILL produced maybe THE most emotionally moving, overwhelming music known to man.

People that say, "ah, that stuff is wierd, I bet a lot of heavy drugs went into that" can go straight to hell. The joke is on them. Being generally clear-headed, they have convinced these people through their music, that they were heavy into drugs. Floyd didnt need drugs though....it was all in the power of their minds. Drugs are the cheap way to do it, rather than to pull incredible works such as these out of clear consciousness. They are all brilliant musicians.

Interesting that you point that out to us, I am curious about the alternatives.

Your post, I fail to see the purpose of the edit as the new version is still a load of bollocks like the previous one. My guess is that you never did any drugs and have an opinion that is based on random cliche bullshit, I will now do my best to reveal the truth, fight the ignorance.

Here it begins. The above statement misses the point in a truly horrible way. You basically give the Floyd credit for making such music WITHOUT drugs, as if any fool could do it WITH drugs. I have coincidentally spoken about this subject before today in another thread in the dark side. I tried to get rid of the bullshit story that drugs make writing music easier, it's explained there.

What you say here is true, they didn't need it. But has there ever been a band who did? Drugs are NOT a way for someone to suddenly become a musical genius, if you have no talent the drugs aren't going to get it out either.

Absolute bollocks is the only way I can describe this. I don't get that sentence, has someone ever written a song that didn't come from his mind? Even when you are high on drugs it still comes from the mind, the power of the mind. There are no pills with pre written songs on them or anything.

After thinking long about this I decided that I will not comment on it. All I'll do is ask you to explain it to me, the use of the word cheap somewhat puzzles me.

That was that then, the truth is finally out. Don't take it personal or anything, I replied to it this way because of the irony and boredom.
