CD or vinyl

Hi everyone. I am new to this board. I am 15 and I just got into pink floyd around a year ago. I now think they are the best band of all time and own everything they made (or at least what i could find) on cd. I have heard talk that Floyd is much better on vinyl. If some of you Floyd veterans out there could tell me which is better or if they are the same i would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have always loved vinyl over CD.
Alas, phonographs are a bit hard to carry onto the subway. That why I record everything on Mini Disc; portability, and enough recording quality to record the warm, fuzzy feeling I get from my vinyl.
But whenever I can, I go for the real thing. The vinyl. If you treat them right, they'll sound great for decades.

As always,
Aquatopia

If every release I wanted was in ready supply on vinyl, then that's all I would buy. Seriously.

And yes, the Floyd sounds great on vinyl...

Vinyl is great if you're rich.

If by 'all the way' you mean 'should burn in a fire,' then I totally agree with you.

Botley is right. If you have LOTS of money to invest on a more-than-good turntable, on a more-than-good needle (which has to be replaced, which is VERY expensive), on a more-than-good amplifier, on more-than-good speakers, then go with vinyl.

Obviously you also have to like the inevitable scratch-pop-fzz noise.

Otherwise, go with CDs.

I don't like vinyl because you have to turn them over and such...

What is really better about vinyl? I'm not trying to say CD is better because I've never really heard vinyl.

Can someone explain to a CD generation dude what is better about vinyl's sound??

I do not have any Pink Floyd in vinyl, but I would invest in vinyl if I had both the time and money. Vinyl has a much finer, richer sound than can be replicated on any other media. Until then, I will continue to grow my cd collection for cost purposes, portability, and ability to listen to it on my car stereo.
