Essential Floyd

Well, I now have every single Pink Floyd album, two compilations of rare and unreleased material, three Waters and one Gilmour. I've been listening to them, and I can see a great progressive change over the years. One of the things that keeps me with Floyd is the fact that even thought they have been around since 1965 they are still way ahead of their time. The only people that don't like them don't because they just don't understand the music I suppose. Anyways, more than likely I will give up my Floyd stuff someday, right now I'll use it to study with.
Cheers,

Re: Essential Floyd

Hi,

I 've known the work of Pink Floyd since I was 10 years old (am 42 right now) and am still totally hooked on it. Somehow, whatever I listen to, I always come back to Pink Floyd again.

Something in their music is everlasting and always fitting in on things going on in life, may it be poltical or otherwise. There is always a lyric available for the most, "ordinary" things going on right now. No matter how old their work is or recorded, I always find a lyric which I can fit in on recent events.

At the moment, with this so called war on terrorism going on and playing such a dominating role in the world, I find myself back, wanting to give the lyrics of The Dogs Of War and even Lost For Words, for instance.

So, there is much more which stays on the same high quality, no matter how many years has passed after them actually writing and recording the music.

I cannot imagine for the life of me that I will ever go without their music. I willingly admit that I am addicted to Pink Floyd.

It's a healthy addiction though. Just very minor brain damage...
