i like rock with violins cellos, etc (Paul McCartneys stuff NOT included... oh apart from Elenor Rigby...)

"ta" means "thank you" to British and Commonwealth folk.

I put ELO in my guilty pleasures file. I do like them quite a bit, probably more for sentimental reasons than overall musicality.

Jeff Lynn is the founder and driving force behind ELO. Richard Tandy and Bev Bevan have been with him from the start. A few other personel changes along the way but they definately were a "band" not at all like Elton (although I must admit Davey Johnstone was a big influence in my early days)

ELO released a 3 CD retrospective set not too long ago spanning their whole career. If your into ELO and want to get a listen from the late 60's through 2000 pick it up, it's very good. (Yes they are still active).

They are really known for their pop stuff (Evil Woman, Boy Blue, Ma Ma Ma Belle) but I think some of their more "obscure cuts" are a lot better. Try to find Calling America, Four Little Diamomds, So Serious, and Getting to the Point.

They are certainly not in the same league as PF (IMO) but they are quite enjoyable.

Even though this thread may have had a rather naturally short shelf life, I honestly didn't mean to kill it so completely.

Who here thinks that Jeff Lynne looks like a beardy muppet?
