Final Cut Movie Update

Just in case you guys have washed your hands of my movie or just forgotten about it, I've started a Yahoo group that will be the official board for working on the movie. I hope you all will stick with me on this. Anyway, here's the link to join:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TFCMovieMainAddress/join

Here you can scrutinize my screenplay [once it's finished] and maybe help me out a little. Thanks

I've decided on a tentative songlist and order for the movie. Because The Final Cut is only about 40 minutes long I needed at least one more song. I could throw in some more time that wasn't accompanied by music and I've also been trying to think of an opening song like the one by Vera Lynn at the beginning [The Little Boy That Santa Forgot]. Anyway here's my first songlist:

The Post-War Dream
Your Possible Pasts
One of The Few
The Hero's Return
The Gunner's Dream
Paranoid Eyes
Get Your Filthy Hands of My Desert
The Fletcher Memorial Home
Hey You [Left out of The Wall (Movie)]
Southampton Dock
The Final Cut
The Dogs Of War [From AMLOR]
Not Now John
Two Suns In The Sunset

Obviously this is just my first set-up. I think I may rearrange the order of a few of the earlier tracks. Because each track flows so seamlessly I'll have to do a little editing of my own to make it all flow but nothing impossible. I knew I wanted to add in Hey You from the The Wall because it never made the cut. It still doesn't seem to fit where it is now but maybe it's final home will show itself once i've completed my analysis of the songs. I REALLY like The Dogs Of War where it is. When he gets the phone call saying he hasn't made the final cut I can just see him with the characteristic blank stare of Pink in One of My Turns and just The Dogs of War could be going on inside his mind and then Not Now John could be him finally snapping? I'm not sure yet but I really like this, plus it gets some post-Waters Pink Floyd in there and I think many of you might like that as well.

Oh I almost forgot. I also wanted to put part of When The Tigers Broke Free in it. I think it would fit pretty well even if only the instrumental parts. Any ideas as to where? I dont know yet. I guess it will show itself when its needed. Any new feedback as of yet?

Not to sound rude or anything, but the Final Cut is very, very Waters-orientated therefore something post-Waters probably wouldn't fit very well. Mind you, I have never heard "Dogs of War" so I don't know. I might be wrong.

I think many would STRONGLY object to placing "Dogs of War" in the setlist.

I have other ideas, though. Some songs for The Wall seem like they have "pairs" on TFC.

For instance:

"The Post War Dream"---> "When the Tigers Broke Free"

"One of the Few"--->"Empty Spaces/What Shall We Do Now"

"Not Now John"--->"In the Flesh" (you even here Hammer! Hammer! Hammer! at the end of NNJ)

And I would think "Hey You" would do better right before "The Final Cut". A cry for help, and then a contemplation of the desperate act of suicide. What do you think of this arrangement?

AMLOR is a fantastic album and while I am very much Water's Domination oriented, I thoroughly enjoy AMLOR. I highly reccomend downloading or better yet buying it. At least listen to Dogs of War. It's a very fast paced, descent into madness kind of song. Well sort of. I think with the right visuals it oculd be conceived of as a descent into madness kind of song. Anyway, I really think every pink floyd fan would love AMLOR.

Hey You right before The Final Cut seems very interesting. I'll have to try it out and see if it flows

But, if you are appealing to an RW-oriented crowd, do remember that will insult a fair portion of your audience to mix the two. Some people are very strict about the "boundary" between the two.

A little controversy never hurt anyone right?

I can see how Hey You would fit very nicely between Southampton Dock and The Final Cut. Hmm. I'll have to make both versions and see which one comes out better. I do like that. It's got the same emotion coarsing through it that Southampton Dock and The Final Cut have. Thanks

Perhaps, but I think you'll put off your audience. Furthermore, I do not think Pink Floyd's management will take very kindly to it, either.

I hope it works. I would think that to replace DoW, here's what you should do. Take it out, and then slip in "In the Flesh" either right before "Not Now John" or after. I'm not sure which will work out best. You may also want to pick up sound clips from around the area of "Waiting for the Worms", but again I'm not sure exactly how that will go.

Hmmm....I am very RW orientated, but I have listened to and liked some post-Waters Floyd, TDB for example. However, I really don't think in a movie about the Final Cut, (which is almost a Roger Waters solo album!), you can really put in any post-Waters Floyd. Mixing post-Waters Floyd with something they all collabrated (sp?) on would probably sound okay, but I don't think you can mix it with the Final Cut. You could try though, I'm not trying to undermine you or anything, just offering some advice.....

I agree with the point that ilovethefloyd makes--even if we assume no one will be offended, the difference in the musical stylings will be very glaring. That is another reason to recommend you take DoW out.

Have you listened to it between The Final Cut and Not Now John? with a little fading, I think it will fit nicely. The feeling is still the same and with good enough visuals, the slight difference could be more of a help than a hurt.

Oops...

Actually, ITF should go AFTER NNJ. I forgot about the fading between TFC and NNJ.
