Thumbs up Dogs is one of Floyd's best songs......

this song takes on so many shapes and sizes in its span of time....

but the lyrics and the music are mindboggling good.

Dogs is probably the best song on Animals, and I think most people on this list consider Animals to be vintage Floyd.

No, vintage Floyd would be Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Saucerful of Secrets and on up to perhaps OBC or More, i.e., Mark I and early Mark II Floyd.

Animals is late Mark II Floyd.

I'd prefer to use number 3, but point taken.

That is what inspired me to take up the guitar.

A few of my coworkers (Floyd fans themselves) and I find the lyrics of Dogs to errirly reflect the common view of our former manager (He was fired for some dirty delaings).

"You've got to be trusted, by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their back on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in"

"Now it's too late to loose the weight you used to need to throw around"

The list just goes on......The entire song just sums up this guys whole life....what a looser.

personally

i really like Dogs , i love how its 17 min. long and some odd seconds ,... i like the lyrics a lot , that my favorite part , and most of the song is filled with lyrics , like he had so many ideas to put into the song , when it could have possibly of been maby say 2-3 songs ,.....its just awsome how creative he is he's one of my heroes (Roger)

and i'm pretty sure that it was roger who made all the lyrics and most of the music right? becuase it says on the song that it was

"Gilmour , Waters" , but did Dave just do the guitar part or did he get in on what he wanted the song to sound like as a whole?
