Actually, no.

I couldn't give a flying cahoots whether people actually enjoy music today or not. Or what sort of music they choose to listen to (cos lord knows there's a lot to choose from these days) Each to his own, enjoyment is something subjective.

What I DO think is narrow minded is the belief that nothing innovative is happening in music today. Thus, this is hardly an argument what is good music and what is not, it's an argument about the progression of music.

It is, it's people saying that either music today is bad, or people convincing them that it's not. And then you, up on your high horse again, being conceited. For what, 11 pages now? Give it a rest.

Actually, it is people expressing their opinions about music and others expressing opposing opinions, which is not an argument, debate, etc. Just opposing opinions or, as Sydney rightly stated, subjective comments.

I cannot stand C&W or most Opera as musical diversions but I certainly wouldn't claim any new C&W or Opera was more or less crap today than in the past. It's a lack-brained starting point.

What REALLY needs to be given a rest is idiotic, bone-headed blanket chat on a discussion board.

Hm. "One man's idiotic blanket chat is another man's..."

Maybe not. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Re: Music Today

Personally i think music today isn't nearly as good as music in the past. Thats a opinion which means you cant argue with it. So now that we know and opion cannot be debated there is no topic here.

Re: Music Today

Opinion is the biggest flaw of mankind.
In a perfect world we would all see things objectively.
This is a goal that can be partially acheived if one wishes to throw away all pride and ego and look at things the way they are and not as he or she wishes them to be.
We will all agree and be in harmony when we all come to the conclusion of what is truth, and what is opinion. Can this be done? It can. Like I said, you have to throw away pride, and that's something plenty of people just aren't willing to do.

That is one of the huge illogical arguments of all time. Opinions can be argued, especially if they are not well conceived and backed up by thoughtful explanations. That is not an opinion, that is fact.

Re: Music Today

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that just doesn't mean it's not bollocks.
