| Excuse me, but is it your suggestion that POP[ular = available to the masses] music did not exist before the advent of The Beatles, for if they influenced EVERYONE, this must be so? ![]() Who do you think influenced The almighty Beatles? _____________________ "We want George!" |

| ...and how Pink Floyd influenced the Beatles? Seriously, The Beatles did influence Floyd in their early Syd pop days, but not too much. Syd was a fan of Lennon and there's some Beatles-esque simplicity in Barrett's naiveté. No much influences in sound anyway, the Floyds had their own visual of music (Interstellar Overdrive) and soon they've gone their own way. And they admittedly loved other bands like the Stones, and other genres (blues, jazz - especially Rick). And yes, I actually think Floyd influenced The Beatles somehow. Floyd were the pioneers of psychedelia in their Ufo days, before Piper and before their hit singles. Lennon, McCartney, Yoko Ono were often at the Ufo club and they did know the new musical phenomenon in London and we all know about their famous encounter at Abbey Road in 1967. I seriously think that Pink Floyd played a (small?) role in The Beatles psychedelic revolution. Last edited by mad yannis; 09-13-2002 at 05:52 PM. |
