Angry Brain Damage(d?)

Gotta tell you all something which really pissed me off today. We got this assingment a couple of weeks ago to write an analytical essay on a literary work. Cool! I thought. Gotta write about the Floyds and so my sunday was spent writing this essay. Could have been worse. Writing about DSOTM was actually pretty fun. Anyway to get to the point, I tried to use as formal language as I could. Handed the thing in, anxiously anticipating the day on which we would get them back. That day was today, but unlike my classmates I did not get mine back. Instead, I was told to stay after. Well, I did stick around to hear what the teacher had to say, and the first thing she told me was that what I had done was almost too good language wise to come from someone in 11th grade. She then asked be if I had taken it off the internet. What the hell?!?! Are you not allowed to express in words all the feelings and thoughts flying through your head while listning to your favorite Pink Floyd album?
It's not hard at all to write deep, inspiring words about something that already holds such depth as these albums do. I just wanted to get this out of me. Maybe I should revise it to the simplest of english that my brains posseses. It wasn't even all that good in my humble opinion.

Anyway, I think it's sad how these new "online essays" give regular hard working, floyd listning, deepthinking guys like my self a really hard time.
Has anything like this ever happened to someone else?

Re: Brain Damage(d?)

I had the same thing happen to me last school year actually. We were told to write an essay, I don' t remember what i wrote mine about, but my english teacher asked me to stay after class. She began asking me who I had write the paper for me. I act really retarded, but I can express myself really well with words. I use a great depth of words when writing, and she thought i had someone else write it for me. I was kinda pissed thinking that i spent that much time and effort writing this great paper, then my teacher thought i had paid someone to do it.

Yeah, I mean we go to school to learn and to try and do well. Then we do a little too well, and the teachers get all suspicious. I think what it is is that they were jealous of what we wrote, and they wish they could express themselves as well as we do.

Re: Brain Damage(d?)

Actually, my teacher might find this page (since it is a pretty popular site) and think this is where I got it from.... Might sound weird but I know some teachers do that
I could send it to your email if you want....

Nonsense silly butt,
If by some chance she did find this site, you would be the starter of the thread, and it would therefore be impossible for anyone else to have wrote it.

Re: Brain Damage(d?)

Hear, hear. I'd certainly like to read it.

Your teachers may or may not be jealous of your insight, but consider youselves the lucky ones because teachers may expect a low standard in basic writing skills - and from the worst examples on this site, I couldn't really blame them.

When they are confronted with obvious talent, sadly instead of encouragement, you get suspicion and doubt. "Always look on the bright side of life."

"Life's a piece of sh*t, when you look at it. Life's a joke and death's a laugh, it's true."

"When you're chewing on lifes grissle, don't grumble give a whistle"

I don't know the setup in sweden but here in the UK there has been talk of performance related pay for teachers. That would certainly stop accusations like that.
"Detention after school sir..."
"I don't think so sir, not if you want your pay packet at the end of the week"

Re: Brain Damage(d?)

I think teachers like GF and mine are like worried that we are actually smarter than they are. Strikes fear in them so they confront us trying to scare us so we do not show our true talents which are far greater than theirs.

Actually...

Actually, I wrote a paper on Pink Floyd for my final project in Freshman Composition II. I feel that my teacher is very prejudice towards papers written by other students; however, this paper turned out to be one of the best, and well written, essays in the class. No surprise though, I have a gift with words.
