A very proud Daddy

OK I know a lot of you wonderful Floyd fans in here are Young'uns... But there are more than a couple of members of the Seasoned Veterans here also. I can only assume that I'm not the only parent here....

I must share this ...

My son is 3, yes 3 (little dude) While we were out shopping today we went into the local SuperTarget (big chain store here in the US). Of course with my two kids (my daughter is 11) we have to take the detour through the toy aisle. Amongst the legos, Bob the Builder stuff, and Hot Wheels what should my son find, and literally beg me for......a mini guitar. Not some plastic cheapie, a real kid sized wood accoustic. It actually played pretty well. ( I was gratified when a few of the other guys shopping with their kids stopped and listened while I strummed out "Pigs on the Wing Pt1") . It cost a bit more that I was willing to pay today so I told him the Santa might bring it for him. I will probably stop in Guitar Center before Xmas to see what they have to offer.

To top it off, when we got home he said "Daddy, I want to watch the pig, the truck and the fire". Now let me translate that for you. He is refering to "Roger Waters : In The Flesh Live"

The Pig = Pigs on the Wing , Pt 1
The Truck = The Pro's and Con's Part 11: Every Strangers Eyes.
The Fire = Perfect Sense, Pt 2.

Now some of you may remember that my daughter is getting pretty good on keyboards and she and I have been playing "Pig's on the Wing" together for some time now. She informed me the other day, she wants to try "Dogs" now......

I gotta go practice.....

Just gotta raise them right, feed them well, love them a lot and expose them to great music at an early age....see what happens...

Erm, Fulghum, it seems that you need a bassist and a drummer now, are you planning anything?

Fulghum, This is TOO WEIRD!

Yesterday, I had a very similar experience, and was planning on posting it to share it with everyone also. My little munchkin is 3 also, and we were watching ITF yesterday. He has his little guitar in hand, pouncing around the room. When suddenly he stops and sings "education" (a little distorted of course). He had never done this before, it was out of the blue. He continues singing, and I couldn't believe how much he knew! Then he pointed his finger just like Roger does.

A very proud moment in motherhood indeed.

(you might want to check out ebay, friend got a great deal on one for their son there.)

To you and PearlWaters--not bad.

Just make sure to introduce them to the rest of the Floyd, and these kids will be set for life!

Oh...and do make sure they don't pick up any...um...less desirable habits. Like spitting.

Cool Beans!

Great stuff, Fulg & PearlW!! There's something going on with current 3-year-olds, I tell ya. My Grandson is 3 too, and he has been playing with toy guitars for the last year or so. He "took over" his daddy's old Squire Strat, and no one gets to touch it except him. Tho he hasn't done any Floyd yet, he's getting down some great rock guitar facial grimaces.

Great kid stories!

I've got two boys, 7 and 4. Both of them know most of the words to SOYCD and WYWH, and my 7YO loves the laughing in Brain Damage. Who am I to deny my kids listening to Floyd in the car on the way to school?

hehe. My baby daughter has listened to Floyd since she was in the womb! She was actually born listening to Pink Floyd! I made them play DSotM and WYWH whilst I was giving birth! No harm in introducing them to good music as early as possible.....

That is awesome...

When I went to ITF '99 to see Roger, I was six months pregnant with my little one I mentioned before. He was kicking like crazy! He must have enjoyed it.
