Post TIRT (The Initial Reference Thread)

hey...........

i got a pretty good knowledge of pink floyd (a lot i've learned from this very message board) but sometimes I must admit that I miss out on what you guys are talking about cuz I don't know what song or album you are referring to when you guys use initials. example (DSOTM, CWTAE, etc.) i was wondering if one or two of the big guys here who know most everything about pf could put what initials go with what album/song.

DSOTM, WYWH, those are all common and i think everyone knows those, but could you guys translate some of the lesser known songs & cds. thanks. i'd list some examples of my confusion but i don't remember where all i've seen them... lol but thanks.

Ha ha, those two are very cheeky. Take no notice.

CWTAE=Careful With That Axe Eugene

SSOSFAGTIACAGWAP = Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict

StCftHotS=Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun

ASOS = A Saucerful of Secrets

OBC = Obscured by Clouds

AMLOR, TDB, DSOT = IMO (in my opinion) not worth bothering with.

And don't forget TUTSAW, the first Rog's masterpiece
(Take up thy stethoscope and walk)

ATM is Atom Heart Mother indeed
ITAOT: Is There Anybody Out There, song and live album.
SOYCD: Shine On You Crazy Diamond
TPATGOD would be The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, but nobody refers to it that way, it is just "The Piper"

ATD is Amused To Death, solo by Waters
AF and DG are About Face and David Gilmour, solos by dave
BC is Broken China, solo by Rick (I've never seen that initials tho)

cheers

AHM often means Atom Heart Mother
(sorry hicks, couldn't resist needling you a bit--I am anal retentive, you know)

AMLOR = A momentary Lapse of Reason
TDB = The Division Bell
DSOT = Delicate Sound of Thunder

In spite of what some say, worthy peices of work.

Actually, I'm guilty of referring to it as "Pat God" in normal conversation...
