New David Gilmour album in 2003

New David Gilmour album in 2003
------------------------------------------

Pink Floyd guitarist confirms plans during BBC Radio 2 appearance

David Gilmour will release a solo album in 2003, and might embark on a tour by the end of '03.

The Pink Floyd guitarist announced his intentions during an appearance on the "Drivetime Show" with Johnnie Walker on BBC Radio 2, Friday, Sept. 27. The announcement confirmed what Gilmour has hinted at during interviews over the past year.

Gilmour has appeared in small, semi-acoustic concerts in June 2001 and January of this year.

This will be his third solo album, following his 1978 eponymous solo debut and 1984's "About Face."

Capitol Records will release a David Gilmour concert DVD/VHS in November.

(Sept. 26, 2002; Sept. 29, 2002)

It's actually an exciting time to be a floyd fan again. Nothing of any note has happened in the floyd universe since Rick Wright released Broken China in 1996, now we're gonna have a new Waters tour and album, a new Gilmour album and tour and Syd has given his first interview in 30 years (which i have heard will be published in a new book about syd, apparently due to be released this month).

I'm excited.

Wow! Good news just keep on flowing (except for the grades that I got from my latest Chemistry exam,oh well..). We'll just see how large Gilmour's tour will be, if he plans to tour that is. "For millions of years,Pink Floyd was rather unactive, but something happened which unleashed the joy of the fans, Gilmour's solo album".

I'll see you all next month, when I decide to post on this forum again. =)

Bye!

This is excellent news! I can't wait!

I read a post that FloydWright started awhile ago that pointed out that Richard Wright may be working on a new solo album. If this is more than just a rumor, we'll certainly have much to anticipate.

It would be funny indeed if they all put out solo discs in 2003. And they thought, "what the hell," and went on tour together, playing as Pink Floyd (with Nick on drums and Syd giving interviews), but not playing any Floyd songs. I would be laughing my ass off.

there always seems to be a chain reaction when one of the floyds starts doing something. i.e. Gilmour and Wright both release solo albums in 1978, Waters releases Pro's and Cons and Radio KAOS so floyds release AMLOR, Waters releases ATD so Floyd go and make the Division Bell, and then Rick Wright makes Broken China after Division bell. It looks like Water's In the Flesh tour and new album is gonna set off one of those chain reactions. I hope so.

You seem to forget 1984 when they released Gilmour's About Face, Waters' Pros & Cons and Wright/Zee's Identity. A... erm... funny year indeed.

Indeed, wonderful news. Maybe, just maybe, one of them, or PF all together , will come over to Mississippi. They can always stay at my place if they want to...

Well, at least, one of them might visit New Orleans, mayhaps. As long as it is not in the hurricane season.

If luck is going my way, one of the tours might stop here in Connecticut. It's kind of odd living between two Indian reservation casinos that have only existed since the early to mid '90's. It's like a whole different world but it's right in my own backyard, so to speak. Some pretty good shows this past summer.

Speaking of tours, actually Roger said that he is NOT going on tour in 2003. Matter of fact he's going to dedicate next year to the recording and releasing process of his new album and he is going to tour again probably in 2004.
