MFSL Gold CDs

I've bought sealed MFSL Gold CD versions of Meddle and DSotM plus a used version of AHM from ebay. I was just wandering what the general opinion of these was from the perspective of floyd fans and also whether any other of these cds were made for other floyd albums.

I once had the MFSL Gold version of the The Wall CD 1. I can't really say what it sounds like compared to the regular CD because the last time I listened to it was such a long time ago and the CD cracked .

According to the Echoes FAQ, AHM, Meddle, DSotM, and The Wall were the only ones that were issued in this format. The Wall is apparently out of print.

I've got the AHM disc this way also. It's the same.

I have a couple of CD's in gold, I can't honestly say that I hear NO difference in sound quality...After I bought my first couple of GOLD CDs I stopped because they go for like 70$, and for what?

If I am right in thinking there is only 5,000 of each cd made then later on down the line they may be worth a fair bit more, particularly sealed versions.

The one major improvement with these cds is not the actual cd but the jewel case, the way it protects the surface of the cd and lifts it for you to take out as well. I thought that was pretty cool

In marketing, that would be a "value added" attribute of the product. I hate marketing and strongly dislike marketers.

There is more depth to the sound on DSotM, but the left hand channel is just a little 'muddy'. Overall, it's pretty much the sound of vinyl, but there's slightly less treble than on a CD. I bloody scratched mine. They scratch A LOT more easily than regular silvers, incidentally.

well i'm not really intending to use them much, and i'm not going to open the sealed ones. I bought them as more of a collection item. Plus they might be worth something one day

for the collector, ya they are cool, but for the average PF fan the money should be save to buy more cds!

I have Pete Townshend's Empty Glass on gold CD, and I think it sounds great. My dad's friend got DSOTM on Gold CD right when it came out, and I got to look at it. Oooh! Pretty! I like the special cases, how you just lift the CD out. It's almost like the tray is serving the CD to you. It should have a little chip that says: here's your CD. Enjoy your listening experience! or something like that.
