I Finally Bought Piper

My collection of Pink Floyd albums is now complete for the most part. I finally bought Piper at the Gates of Dawn yesterday. I had been holding off in the hopes that I'd find it used but I couldn't wait any longer so I shoveled out 18 bucks for the brand new remastered version. I've gotta admit the stereo effects sound a bit shoddy. Anyway, I've been looking for the early singles but i don't want to waste my money on that pathetic box set for just one disc. If anyone knows of any other collections with all of the Floyd's early non-album singles, I would really appreciate the help.

Well, the only official release on CD of It Would Be So Nice, Apples And Oranges and Point Me At The Sky is unfortunately The Early Singles. You can find a mono version of Apples And Oranges on "The First 3 Singles", the bonus CD released at the time of Piper 30th Anniversary Mono Edition.

Was that released to a global audience. Haven't located that album downunder at all. I'm blaming the crap record stores in my suburb for this. May mean a trip into the big supermarket type ones, which l hate btw.

This is the problem, Jethro, as Photogenic Cow knows, "The Early Singles" is only available as part of the "Shine On" box set.
Unless you are as lucky as I was when I found it at a record fair

I can sympathise. I can never find anything I want to find at the local record store, but then I find something like Echoes with the price (mistakenly) $10 less than normal. All is forgiven. Then I go back again for another couple of futile trips and make another find.
But I never end up with what I'm looking for. Arg...

At least it's better than most of the big supermarket places

Toronto is great for record stores, but I'm just too damn lazy to go and poke around all the teensy weensy lil' shops to buy bootlegs that I can just as easily download and burn.

Lightbulb ebay

Ebay. All the way. Just search for 'First Three Singles.' It comes with the following tracks:

"Arnold Layne"
"Candy and a Currant Bun"
"See Emily Play"
"Scarecrow"
"Apples and Oranges"
"Paint Box"

You can usually find this cd any day on ebay. just look around, its common. I got mine for about 10 bucks after shipping. Later.

Oh I found their first 7" on there the other day, it was up to $1000 and still climbing. Still in the sleeve too. Damn...

I think the one on Pitt street is Phantom Records.....maybe. I was going to order the Pompeii video online from Utopia tonight but as it coming out on DVD in March I will wait.

Well,
I've downloaded and burnt some albums too, but somehow I think that the quality is, in a way, a little inferior. I don't know, but somehow I like the idea on having those albums on vinyl... (and for that purpose there are all those fairs and second-hand-music stores)
