Re: ART anyone?

Carney's piece entitled ~Hey Ralphie Boy!~ should be in the Louvre next to the Mona Lisa.

Re: ART anyone?

Also worthy of note is L. Ball's work... particularly her "Candy Factory".

Breathtaking.

Re: ART anyone?

One great collaborative piece, based in Neo-American culture is the ~Who's On First~ masterpiece by Messrs B. Abbott and L. Costello.

Re: ART anyone?

Giger is awesome. Very industrial.

I know I list different artists sporadically, but if I had to make a list...

Barnett Newman
Mark Rothko
Jackson Pollock
Auguste Rodin
Joseph Cornell
Vincent VanGogh
Toulouse Lautrec
Stephen Smigocki (I know him, he's damn near a genius)
Clayton Merrill
Matisse
Willem De Kooning
Andy Warhol
Roy Lichtenstein
*I know I'm leaving out a lot*
and...don't laugh, but....
I really dig Paul McCartney's paintings.

I also love the naivate that a lack of formal training granted Rousseau.

Re: ART anyone?

I found this while surfing a few sites for some old favorite bands..

Floyd Sneed was the original drummer for Three Dog Night ( a great drummer too BTW). Now he spends his time with canvas instead of skins... some really cool stuff here as well.. check it out.

Re: ART anyone?

I was at the Carnegie International exhibit this past Friday, and now have a ton of new inspiration.
They've got a large section devoted to Crumb's cartoon work which was just fab.
Of course, we checked out the classical section of the museum, and I felt like utter shite as an artist, standing in front of the Van Gogh and the Monet. I think I wanted to drown in the water lilies.

We also hit the Warhol, and I must say, I've gained a new appreciation for Warhol the artist.

Anyway, end of that. Better now.

Lightbulb Behind all those Layers...waves?

[b]its all those layers that count;not easy ?u say, well nothing is so easy as putting layesrs upon layers of the fine china silk on the embalmed body of PINK;after all its not easy to wrap around a guy with so many LAYERS he wears himself.Did I say EMBALMED? sorry ; read it * "SUSPENDED ANIMATION" .Check out the cover art of Alan Parsons Project's album"Tales of....Imagiantion" a good graphic art that is.But the question that remains is "WHAT DEFINES A GOOD ART/PAINTING?"
