Meddle dts

Does anyone know if there is a Meddle CD with dts, and if so where could I get it. I think it would be really cool to listen to Echoes on my surround sound while watching 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Nope. The band DID create one, but it has never been released.

Go back to listening to WYWH in 4.1.

There are true Quad mixes of Atom Heart Mother, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here only. All of which were taken from Quadrophonic 8-Track tapes issued in the 70's and put on DTS CDR by some enterprising soul (God bless him/her).

Plus, some dude hooked up his stereo Floyd albums to a QSD-2 decoder and made two bootlegs called A Collection of Quad Floyd Songs vol. 1 and A Collection of Quad Floyd Songs vol. 2. Both worth all the trouble, if you have a DTS decoder and a 5.1 speaker setup.

According to www.brain-damage.co.uk the quadraphonic version of The Dark Side Of The Moon is going to be re-released on DVD Audio format next year (30th anniversary).

Do you mean the tracks have a higher bitrate?

Yes, higher sampling rate and bit depth too. But different configurations are possible. Some can be played by older DVD players, and some can't.

I got a few DTS RoIO CDs (DSOTM, WYWH and AHM), but I went looking for them a few days ago, after I moved to my new apartment, and could not find them. Probably in some of the boxes I haven't opened yet. But the DTS sound (which was actually mixed from the original quad-mixes) is just INCREDIBLE. I mean, it's like comparing mono with stereo. The music sounded so much different, it took my breath away EVERY time I listened to it. So whenever they release those in any format (Super Audio CD, Audio DVD, or whatever), I suggest you run to the store that very same minute. Camp there and stay there until you walk out with a copy...
