| final breath You lay in your bed of stone and you look long out the nearby window at a tree in desperation The sun is high and bright but deep down inside there's a fear hiding away from the light Thinking about the days you had marked and what you could do can't uncross the calendar But you're cold, old, alone, tired, living but not for long in denial Your eyesight is fading and the sunlight from the window can't reach your mind Your chest feels like a mine shaft about to cave in where the miners are trapped inside Your heartbeat is slowing its will an empty bottle of wine but your pain won't sober About to take your final breath you realise you're out of time kiss it all goodbye ---------------- Ah, I've been listening to "Time" too much   |
