best album - 'Dark side of the moon.'

most over rated. in floyds case it's piper

most over rated in general? probably The Stone Roses 'Stone Roses.' - a recent poll voted it best ever.

Nevermind though, good album. - not the best ever though, (see above) they like Floyd have a great knack of portraying calm and chaotic in their sound without losing control. They can both do chilled and energetic whilst keeping the music tight and focused.

Best:
Yessongs - Yes
Going For The One - Yes
Brain Salad Surgery - ELP
Who's Next - The Who
Quadrophenia - The Who
All Things Must Pass - George Harrison
Passion Play - Jethro Tull
I, Robot - Alan Parsons Project
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd

Worst:
The Final Cut - Pink Floyd (Roger Waters)
any early Beatles stuff before Help!
Radio KAOS - Roger Waters

Overrated (still good, but a little too "culturally known"):
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Wall
Tommy (sorry, Quadrophenia's the better rock opera here)
Thick As a Brick - Jethro Tull

Passion Play for Tull, I dunno about that one. Mabe its just me, But I do belive a little album called Benefit is a bit better. I dunno Just my opinion I guess. But the rest of your picks are respectable, and i commend you, even though Yessongs is a bit more like compilation album. Taking the best from everything. Its more of a best of really. I dunno another opinion. If I were you I would just drop Yessongs and Going for the One would be my top pick for them.

I don't think DSOTM is overrated. It really is one of the greatest albums of all time. The WALL is a bit overrated, but there's a thread about that already.

An overrated album would have to be Piper. Yes, there are some good songs on there but come on, Matilda Mother and Take thy Steheoscope and walk (or whatever it is called) are not the most memorble songs ever. The Final Cut is not a bad album but ot a really good one either but is still underrated. It is still better then the Ummagumma studio album.

No point of putting anything because nobody reads these anyway. A bit sad to see that poor Shane had been talking to the same schitzo person youngstienbeck and odv for pages 2 to the beginning of 4.

Misplaced Childhood was a very overrated album (and I speak as a Marillion fan).

I'm not such a fan of the early stuff to be honest. I prefer Clutching at Straws, Seasons End, Brave and Afraid of Sunlight.

I do think Misplaced Childhood has a fair few good moments, but it's not their most consistent work, either lyrically or musically.

This is hard.

Best, no order (exluding PF, since they would prob fill the whole list...) :
-"Thick as a Brick"-Jethro Tull
-"Automatic for the People"-REM
-"Quadrophenia"-The Who
-"War"-U2
-"Ziggy Stardust"-David Bowie
-"The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway"-Genesis
-"Are You Experienced?"-Jimi Hendrix Experience
-"Soft Parade"-The Doors
-"Under the Table and Dreaming"- Dave Matthews Band
-"I Robot"- Alan Parsons Project
-"OK Computer"-Radiohead
-"Space Wrangler"-Widespread Panic
theres tons more, but I think my fingers would fall off first...

Overrated (but still good):
-"Achtung Baby"-U2
-"Blood Sugar Sex Magic"-RHCP
eh that's all that comes to mind at the moment...I know I know more...

Overrated and just plain bad:
-Anything AC/DC
-90% of the Rolling Stone's stuff
-99.1% of the modern stuff
