Tiny in quantity, but large in quality Albert Camus is great, have you read The Plauge Shane? It is not as good, but great too.

Another one that is good by Camus is A Happy Death, but those are all the one's i've read by Camus. Another great 20th century French writer is Milian Kundera, he wrote, "The Book Of Laughing and Forgetting" and, "The Unbearable Lightness Of Being" those are the one's i've read by him, they are excellent. But of course for the best 20th writer, the prize goes to, and always will go to, Gabriel Garcia Marquez because he is DAMN good, have you read, "One Hundred Years Of Solitude" it is damn amazing, dammit.
