If you listen to PINK FLOYD more for their excellent music, and not for their complex lyrics..then I think you'll find YES to be outstanding....their lyrics are great, but not quite as good as the Floyds but their music (IMO) is unbeatable!......Buy CLOSE TO THE EDGE a.s.a.p.

By the way, how old are you? Do we have another young person on the forum ?

Welcome Pritch!
You do not have an obsession, just a true appreciation. Pink Floyd is beauty. I recommend taking up some of ODV2's advice, although I have not gotten into Rush yet. Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull, and Yes are the way to go - but nothing beats Pink Floyd.

P.S. I also fall into the "young person" category - 20.

You'll love them; they are in a leauge of their own! (not nearly as good as PF, but excellent none the less).....If you start with anything, it would be good to start with MOVING PICTURES for rush, and then go for their earlier, works, steer clear of the late 80's until your an exprienced RUSH fan so that you can appreciate those albums.

Re: Why am I obsessed?

Don't worry, Pritch, I'm obsessed too! I think Pink Floyd is quite an easy thing to become obsessed with. Their music is just amazing and brilliant to chill out to, (well except the wall and TFC) I might have taken it too far though.......I'm 21 with a serious boyfriend and a new baby, yet I have pictures of Roger Waters on my wall! (that's supposed to look innocent not sarcastic!) Maybe I should see a doctor.................

I have two albums from King Crimson, I consider them to be very underrated....but theres no need in bashing my musical tastes.......I value excellent, guitar, drum, bass, and keyboard playing in my music, so SHOOT ME!

Re: Why am I obsessed?

I become obsessed with every new band I "discover". Don't take it to seriously. Enjoy it now. Cause in a few years, you'll be sick of DSOTM.

Re: Why am I obsessed?

"yet I have pictures of Roger Waters on my wall!"

I haven't gone that far yet, but I have a big framed DSOM poster above my bed.

I wouldn't mind buying the animals poster, I just worry about shipping costs from the US.
