I agree Byron, those are the real Floyd albums. AMLOR and TDB are just Floyd ripoffs

As much as I like both post-Waters albums, no way in the name of all that is holy is it the best Floyd album.

.......

The Division Bell is probably my joint favourite floyd album along with Wish You Were Here and maybe DSOTM. I think the lyrics on the album are great. Cant remember who said it but someone said they thought the guitar work in "Coming Back to Life" was great and i'll have to agree, especially since i know the first 2 solo's , the pulse version of the second solo. It just sounds great to me, i dont know how but i also liked Dave's voice on this album very much, he sounded a little different to me but sounded great.

Wearing the Inside Out is one of my fav songs ever. I recently figured out both guitar solo's too which was really cool since i love those. High hopes is an amazing song, love the lyrics, as do i love marooned, that song has depth.

Im one of the people who doesnt care that Roger left because if he didnt the division bell and obviousley MLOR might not have been what they are, people could say if he hadnt left the next couple of albums could have been something better, but im really happy with the way the next 2 turned out and the style of them.

TDB is definatly a great album one of their best later work out shining both AMLOR and TFC. Certainly not their bst work but that is not to say it is not good as to be honest DSOTM, WYWH and TPATGOD are untouchable.

TBD is good but it's not the work of art, you could expect them to make with roger. it's definitely no animals or DSOTM

Thumbs up DB is great!

I think that the Division Bell has some great songs. I think that Take it Back is absolutely awesome. Gilmour is definitely a great guitarist and has a great voice. He is exceptionally talented and IMO a great person as well.

I once posted that i like MLOR more than DB, but don't means that i don't like it. I think it's a great PF album.

Re: I don't see what the problem is with The Division Bell...

I don't think theres anything "wrong" with The Division Bell, but as a Floyd album it is expected to live up to certain standards that is simply did not meet.

If another young band had made 'The Division Bell' I figure it would have been pretty much written off not as a bad album but as nothing new or groundbreaking. The only reason we are taking about it today is because it was by Gilmour/Floyd.

Re: I don't see what the problem is with The Division Bell...

The Division Bell is great and i listen to it just as much as the albums with Roger in them, but the fact that I listen to it so much, perhaps more than the others, is that it doesn't have that epic feel, you can just sit and chill out and listen to it, its nothing monumental, its not a musical orgasm like other floydian works, but regardless, its very good and may be a bit unfair to compair it to earlier floyd albums, but if it has pink floyd on the cover, its going to get compared.

I have to agree with you. I am a huge Roger fan and would love to see Rog back on the mix, but I think The Division Bell is a great record. I like it much better than MLOR.

It sounds more Floydian to me. Two thumbs up for The Divison Bell.

Re: I don't see what the problem is with The Division Bell...

To my ears, it's always been an inexcusably bad album. I can't even explain why. I've tried many many times to like it. I tried many many times to get into the songs, ignore the horrible lyrics and enjoy the music alone. The bits they took from it on Echoes are alright but the rest is just unlistenable to my ears. I expect it has something to do with Roger's absence, but try as I might I can't articulate what it is that he brings to his music above and beyond lyricism and drive. I can listen to all the albums involving both him and Dave but for some reason not Dave without Roger.

Mind you, Dave plays really well on Ringo Starr's and Paul McCartney's solo albums. Maybe he just needs to be standing next to a real rock star.
