Question Why are there two DSOTM covers???

I've noticed something: the DSOTM cover art varies from release to release. We all know what the basic artwork looks like (prism, rainbow) but you'll notice in this image of the US release, the prism is drawn simply, with a hollow prism and thick rainbow on one side. Now look at this image of the Australian remastered version. The prism is fully coloured in a shiny silver, the rainbow is much thinner, and there is an additional third silver line sticking up out of the left side of the prism. My cassette release is different still, with the encircled words "PINK FLOYD THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" absent. Does anyone know anything about any of this?

It's rather simple, actually. The "fully coloured" version is the cover of the remastered edition (not only the Australian one). Storm explains the choice of "remastering" the cover in his wonderful book "Mind Over Matter" (if you are into Floyd artwork you HAVE to own this book), matter of fact the prism of the original cover was a drawing, the prism of the remaster was a photo of the real thing.

Actually the splinter of light is what REALLY happens when light is refracted through a prism...probably why it was missing from the original drawing (the artist didn't know about it!!!).

As for the Syd Barrett stuff...I would have thought it would be in the original if they had intended it to represent him.

I'll give you a call one of these days Fixxy.

It's his nature, Sydney, as if you didn't already know.

Chips on chilli is a very rare dish for this Byron.

V funny Byron- nope- one of our earliest public communications had you recommending that I add some grated cheese to my chips and chilli.

Is why.

Hiya Dydney, how's you?

Jury is still undecided on the chips and chilli caper I think.
